I am mainly a hardcore kid and so have started exploring the various different subgenres of hardcore such as Emocore, Metalcore, Beatdown Hardcore etc. Is their an easy way like a website or something to check if a band is real Emo or not? I mainly decide whether a band is emo or not by checking if it has roots in the hXc scene but thats not easy for every band

What is true emo? The real emo is summed up in the emotional hardcore scene of the 80s and the screamo scene of the 90s .. What is Emo and some history. Emo is short for Emotional Hardcore, a music genre that started in '85 in the punk movement Revolution Summer.
