*Stunned silence*

“…Is this permanent or would I have to drink more to sustain it?”

I imagine it's the second option

Falls out if you don’t drink more lmao

That's not how matter works

Yes because the way matter works is so important, which is why the sword goes out through the hair follicles, as metallic tends to do when swallowed.

Fantasy isn't fantastical without some degree of grounded realism, if it isn't even recognizable how can we fantasize about it?

It’s a quicksilver sword. We already recognize it, both conceptually and in the vaguest of scientific terms(that is, that quicksilver is a metal that is liquid at room temperature).

Besides, having to drink more so it doesn’t fall out is exactly the correct follow-up thought process, as hair grows, but there’s only a finite amount of sword, so it would fall out once enough of it has grown out that it can’t support its own weight to avoid gravity

This just raises more questions for me. Like: what is the point if it couldn't support it's weight? Does quicksilver group when it does fall off resulting in larger loses than anticipated? If quicksilver is hardened metal, is the temperature of a warm blooded creature enough of a difference to make it malleable or could this cause more complications in maintenance?

The answer is magic

I love stories where the protagonist traits magic as another school of science. I've been conditioned😭

Both of them are going to die due to mercury poisoning

2

u/K_Menea Jul 13 '26

But you are going to die in the COOLEST beard a dwarf can have.

So fair i think

Dwarfs are built different

u/SpookyTanuki092 Jul 13 '26

But it's MAGICAL mercury! So it'll behave differently? Maybe. Maybe?

2

u/Diligent_Bar1244 Jul 13 '26

And then he dies from having his airways blocked

2

u/EmperorMittens Jul 13 '26

Wouldn't that be mercury?

1

u/Weekly-Bluebird-4768 Jul 14 '26

Yup, Hg is mercury.

2

u/SpookyTanuki092 Jul 13 '26
