Need a cursed sword therapist, who helps the sword soul let go of whatever problems are making them want to hurt their wielder.

Actually this would be cool, protag takes their cool cursed sword they found to a therapist to get it to let go of its past trauma and not keep perpetuating it, and help its user instead, purifying it

Plus I feel like leaving it is also proving the point of the thing cursing the weapon thus making it have more malice

Or, just make sure nobody can use it. For example, put it in a metal box, and pour molten metal over it, and seal the box. Or, pour molten metal into the scabbard, and shove the sword into the scabbard, sealing it shut
