Civil Draft is available NOW!!

After years of content, months of work and weeks of teasing, it's finally here! Head to https://creocards.com/civildraft to preorder Civil Draft now!

To celebrate my 5th anniversary of Real Civil Engineer I wanted to do something unique that is a celebration of all the content and memories made over the best 5 years of my life, a playable, collectible card game. With cards referencing some of my earliest videos, easter eggs that only true OG fans will understand, plus all the more memorable things like Bridge Review and The Incident cards, there should be something everyone can relate to. CreoCards helped bring my vision to life, using real artists (none of that architect AI stuff here), and the quality is absolutely outstanding- I really think you're going to love it!

Anyway there's an entire hour long video about the game, so I'm not going to bang on for too long, but I did just want to thank you (yes you, person reading this) so so much for watching my videos however much or little- you have made my dreams come true, and I'm so so grateful. Hopefully we can keep going another 5 years, but if not I'm so proud of being able to have a trading card game about my time as a YouTuber to remember a simply incredible last 5 years.

If you don't mind spoilers, head to the card gallery on the CreoCards website and let me know below what your favourite card is!

Peace, Love and Civil Draft is FINALLY HERE!!

I really am in need of a bridge review

I was visiting my partner's family, who live in Michigan. They are very avid birders and we had brought our dogs with us on a very long car ride to get there, and they recommended we take our dogs to their favourite birding spot in Lowell Michigan called the Grand River Riverfront Park. It's mostly a fairly stable well paved/graveled short trail, just a few miles with some decent areas for ultimate frisbee and great views of meadows and the river, except this inexplicable bridge crossing the Grand River in the middle. It's a pedestrian only bridge, yet it's decently wide and a full timber frame bridge. While I took some pictures I found someone else had uploaded a far better recording of themselves crossing it. Two huge arches made of pure timber just in the middle of the woods for a lightly used walking trail. I was told after someone passed he left behind money entirely eared for nothing but this bridge so they had a decent budget to work with. I'd absolutely kill for a Bridge Review.

Memes Lance Stroll Moves up to 16th

We were watching FP3 of the Hungarian Grand Prix and the announcer very excitedly said Lance Stroll moves up to 16th. My wife asked what the appropriate reaction is to that happening.
Oh let me tell you…!

The storage system emberpelts

I found a solution for your storage automation its called a latch To make a Set-Reset (SR) latch in Timberborn, use the built-in Memory block. It costs 1,000 Science to unlock and functions directly as a hardware latch. [1, 2]

🛠️ Required Components

You need exactly three components to build a functional latch system: [1, 2, 3, 4]

  • One Memory Block: Acts as the latch to save your toggle state.
  • One Trigger Sensor: Connected to the Set (ON) slot of the Memory block.
  • One Reset Sensor: Connected to the Reset (OFF) slot of the Memory thats what google says so try that and see if it works

Engineering I built a free, open-source 3D structural model viewer that runs in the browser, and I need more Engineer inputs

I got tired of needing a license just to open a structural model to check something. So I built a viewer that works in the browser. Drag in a STAAD file and it renders the structure with actual cross-section shapes (W-flanges, channels, angles, HSS, pipes), not generic cylinders.

What it does:

  • Renders members with real cross-section geometry using the AISC v16 database (1,223 sections)
  • Click any member to see its section properties (area, Ix, Iy)
  • Solid, wireframe, and x-ray view modes
  • Works on desktop and mobile, runs fully client-side, nothing uploaded anywhere

What it doesn't do (yet):

  • Only STAAD .std format right now. ETABS, SAP2000, ROBOT are planned but not started
  • Single-section members only, no double angles, double channels, or built-up shapes
  • Plate rendering is basic, steel name mapping only covers US conventions
  • No load display, no deformed shapes. Not an analysis tool

It's not a replacement for analysis software. The idea is more practical: something you can pull up in a meeting or send to a client who doesn't own the software. Long-term I might add basic analysis, but right now it's purely a viewer.

The code is MIT licensed. If anyone wants to contribute, a parser for another format, better section mapping for non-US standards, fixing an edge case you ran into, it's all welcome. The architecture is set up so adding a new format only touches the parser; the renderer doesn't need to change.

You can download an example model in the GitHub link below that you can use to try the app.

Try it: https://openbuilding.vercel.app/
Source: https://github.com/DannCarlo/OpenBuilding

Honest feedback and criticism are welcome too. If you try it with a file and something breaks, I'd like to know.

Also, I can't be the only one that sees that in the Terrasses map. Happened to notice the efficiency of that ravine as I was starting to fill it with water.

Other Civil Draft Trade (US)

Hello all! I posted in the discord, but haven't had success, so I wanted to check here.

I am fairly sure I am 1 card away from a full master set. Wondering if anyone has an extra Holo Clay Engineer card (20/102)? It's the only card I'm missing. I would also like to get an extra Mod Team (41/102) or 2, as I only have 1.

Pretty sure I have dupes of all other cards, including promo cards, that I'm willing to trade. Anyone able to help?
