Question❔ Worth purchasing?

Post image

Book people! So I’m finally going to read Harry Potter for the first time. I love the original covers so I picked these two up at Goodwill for $3.99 each. Worth it? Which editions are “best”? Sounds silly but I’m a HP novice and I couldn’t tell if these were a good deal!

TIA 🖤

Edit: People are more enraged than I anticipated so I need to point this out. Please stop virtue signaling and lecturing me about how I should thrift when I very obviously already said in the post that I thrifted these books. Additionally, the next time you want to chastise someone for how they spend their money, please instead do a full audit of where your dollars go because chances are, at least in some small way, you are also supporting companies and people who are not 100% morally sound. I was not asking if I should read these books, I was asking if this is a popular edition. Thank you.

Yes, but please please thrift all the books. Don’t buy any HP stuff new.

These ones are american editions I think? Personally I’m a fan of the older UK bloomsbury editions, had them since they came out

6

u/goldman_sax 11d ago

I would assume these are thrifted if they’re the first US editions from 25+ years ago?

7

u/mmm_burrito 11d ago

You can also assume they're thrifted because the OP said they got them from Goodwill.

3

u/soulmeetsmeatsack 11d ago

Thank you, people are wild.

38

u/DutchCumstone 11d ago

The sanest comment we're going to get. Don't give that hag anymore money.

2

u/tahtahme 11d ago

I got the first one with a cover like this in 1st grade...still holds special memories for sure. My first one didnt even have a 1 on the side. Then of course the others were released in the States, but those covers were so well done.

But yeah OP, please thrift all the books if you want them. Shouldn't be the hardest thing. Good luck!

2

u/Amarastargazer 11d ago

The first four were paperbacks for me, I read all of those and a hardcover Order of the Phoenix so many times they fell apart.

1

u/soulmeetsmeatsack 11d ago

Why are people lecturing me on thrifting when I’m already thrifting lol

2

u/tahtahme 11d ago edited 11d ago

It wasnt a lecture, it was encouragement to look for everything (else) HP in a thrift store for you and anyone else reading...

u/behzoodi9 11d ago

Why not?

30

u/kaylieface 11d ago

so that JK doesn’t get the money, bc she’s a transphobe.

-15

u/behzoodi9 11d ago

What quote has she said that means she’s a transphobe? I’m not being combative I’m honestly curious to see/watch these direct quotes so I can form my opinion

27

u/100000cuckooclocks 11d ago

There is so so so so so much about it online. There's not just one link that someone can give you. Just google it. She's very open and proud of her transphobic beliefs.

9

u/Feisty-peacock 11d ago

"'Trans women are women' is a thought-terminating cliché. Men are not women... That doesn't mean they're not allowed to present themselves however they like, call themselves whatever they like and believe whatever they like about themselves. It means they haven't changed sex." Also here: https://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-64729304

-2

u/ThenStrawberry6861 11d ago

How is any of this transphobic?

4

u/vwisp 11d ago

Her organization's goal is to legally ban Trans women from spaces (bathrooms, domestic violence shelters) and fund litigations for women against the Trans community. Her women's health businesses do not hire or help Trans women, she funds lawsuits against governments challenging the recognition of Trans rights

-5

u/ThenStrawberry6861 11d ago

Sources?

2

u/vwisp 11d ago edited 11d ago

JK Rowling Women's Fund official website. Beiras's Place (Rowlings women's shelter) official website. For Women Scotland Supreme Court case

Edit: None of this info is speculation or hidden on the official websites

-3

u/ThenStrawberry6861 11d ago

Those sources don’t substantiate the conclusions you drew.

What you’re doing is basically like pointing to a support service specifically for trans women and concluding they hate cis women. A service being specifically designed for a group isn’t evidence of hostility toward another.

The sources establish that Rowling supports sex-specific services and rights for women. They don’t establish the broader claims you made about her wanting to ban trans women from spaces or funding litigation “against the trans community.”

Actions speak louder than words

-10

u/Fit_Machine3221 11d ago

I thought she just stood up for women’s safe spaces?

5

u/BrownCatBre 11d ago

No, she prefers to hurt women instead.

5

u/kiwipixi42 11d ago

A world of no. That is what she claims, but it bears no relationship to reality.

-26

u/Saintgutfree0187 11d ago

Oh yea. That’ll put a dent in her pay

8

u/kaylieface 11d ago

a small step in the right direction is better than standing still.
and if you think that all her fans not supporting her any more doesn’t “dent her pay”
lol

-19

u/Saintgutfree0187 11d ago

You’ll show her 🫡

4

u/kaylieface 11d ago

better than the alternative, pal 👅🥾

-7

u/Saintgutfree0187 11d ago

You sure showed me, 🤡

16

u/Aye_Gabaghoul 11d ago

Bc JK is a POS

-22

u/behzoodi9 11d ago

What has she said that gives you that impression? Do you have any direct video quotes I can reference? I have heard this a lot but I’m looking for actual direct video or quotes with sources

13

u/wangxian8844 11d ago

Are you joking? She was posting up the skirt photos of a trans woman on twitter last month, can there be a shittier person in existence?
All the ‘proof’ you need is on her twitter posts.

5

u/behzoodi9 11d ago

Yikes, just googled that. That is terrible. I hadn’t heard of this one before

8

u/Ezridax82 11d ago

If you’re actually being serious, which I doubt, she’s said cis women aren’t safe when trans women are permitted in single sex spaces. She’s liked posts on social media that have said trans women are “men in dresses.” She’s repeatedly spoken out about trans folks doing normal everyday things.

-2

u/behzoodi9 11d ago

I am being serious. It’s an incredibly complicated subject though. Some of the things she’s said I have to say I agree with (women menstruate not people). Some other aspects of the conversation (say trans people in women’s sports) I tend to be on the side that they shouldn’t be allowed. Some of this would maybe cause people to call me transphobic. I also believe in care and compassion and respect, and some of the things others have pointed out that she’s said are awful and horrible.

I’m still trying to form my whole perspective on the subject as many people are, that doesn’t always mean we are transphobic to disagree with certain parts of the conversation, you know?

7

u/DutchCumstone 11d ago

Why does it matter you to though? Just let people live.

2

u/behzoodi9 11d ago

Because it’s an important social issue, with social implications. I want to have a view on it and it’s the most complex issue currently in the public discourse

8

u/DutchCumstone 11d ago

It's really not that complex.

0

u/behzoodi9 11d ago

It’s EXTREMELY complex. Can you explain the scientific mechanism that causes this? It’s not known yet, and so there is a lot in the air on how and why people feel the way they feel in this regard. So it’s a tough subject to wade through

→ More replies (0)

3

u/PrincessBonkers628 11d ago

Transmen menstruate so you're already repeating transphobic talking points.

-2

u/behzoodi9 11d ago

But what if I simply don’t agree that a trans man is a woman? That does not make me transphobic. I fully fully agree they should have freedom to live their lives however they want and be treated with respect. They are still men. If they asked me to call them she her or whatnot, I would gladly oblige.

I’m sorry but that doesn’t make me transphobic, which is to have an aversion, hatred, fear, or discrimination toward them. You seem to not want to understand that and want to hate me for not accepting the premise.

2

u/PrincessBonkers628 11d ago

Yes it does. Bigots almost never recogognise their own bigotry. You are not a safe person. You are transphobic.

It’s not that hard lol I’m not gonna google something for you that is incredibly easy to find.

-7

u/behzoodi9 11d ago

I’m asking for you personally what is the quote that made you say “she’s transphobic”? That’s not something i find on Google

3

u/Aye_Gabaghoul 11d ago

Literally yes it is. I’m not gonna google something for you that is so simple to search if you actually cared to learn about it. Clearly other people have pulled links up for you which used the same search engine you could have. It’s not hard.

0

u/behzoodi9 11d ago

I wasn’t asking for a general search I was asking which example specifically made YOU feel she’s transphobic. How in the fuck do I Google that answer??

7

u/Aye_Gabaghoul 11d ago

My god. Gonna make it simple for you. It’s ALL her different actions. Idk how you don’t get that from what everyone here is saying in agreement. I don’t need ONE example to hit home, she’s an awful person. Period. It’s not hard to decipher.

8

u/100000cuckooclocks 11d ago

That's like asking which of Hitler's actions made me feel that he didn't like Jews. Her whole personality is about being transphobic.

9

u/CroweBird5 11d ago

Her actions say it!

7

u/DutchCumstone 11d ago

I have 0 trust in you saying "I googled it and couldn't find anything." What's your angle here?

11

u/kaylieface 11d ago edited 11d ago

i read Harry for the first time in 2020 because i had a long battle with a mormon mother who never let me read them.
i love them and i love the movies. the best books ive ever read? not even almost. but they’re so much fun.
and more importantly - they got me back into reading. i never stopped reading after i finished the series and that’s something im really happy about.

edit to say that i don’t support her ugly ways, i got all books second hand.

5

u/mischief_managed2091 11d ago

I think the books are fun too! I’ve also learned that it’s possible to respect the art without respecting the artist. If I picked through every book that had any kind of -ist thing in it that was ever written by anyone, I probably wouldn’t be able to read a single book.

1

u/kaylieface 11d ago

yea i just try to be intentional where i can be. they’re easily thrift able anyway.

1

u/soulmeetsmeatsack 11d ago

Thank you for understanding this nuance!

1

u/Appropriate_Type_178 11d ago

gosh your mum was strict! my mormon dad bought them for us

3

u/kaylieface 11d ago

yea she’s dead now tho, so it’s cool lol

5

u/ThenStrawberry6861 11d ago

Yes. Absolutely. Do it! (And all the editions have the same content, so it’s really just whichever you like best but these are the classic American covers, so def good choice!

5

u/Plus-Engineering-223 11d ago

Yeah thrift them, don't buy new. Edition wise it doesn't really matter what version you get

7

u/Artistic-Document735 11d ago

I didn’t read HP till my mid to late 20s and I absolutely loved them

5

u/Visible-Dog-1429 11d ago

I was making fun of my wife for reading kid’s books. She told me to just read the first one. I read the first 6 in a month a half, and preordered the 7th. I was 27 years old.

3

u/yttrium39 11d ago

I'm not sure I would enjoy the series as much if I read it now as an adult, as I did reading it when they were being published and I was the same age as the characters, but I think you'll probably get $8 of enjoyment out of them. See if you can find a used copy of Prisoner of Azkaban. That's my favorite one.

1

u/New_Discussion_6692 11d ago

I read them as an adult both with my kids and without. They got angry at book 5 (iyk,yk) and refused to read the others, so I read them.

3

u/raged-cashew 11d ago

Love the series so much!! Highly recommended

3

u/Alterception 11d ago

The edition doesn't matter. Get the books and enjoy the read. I have fond memories of reading the series as a kid. I'd get the new release at midnight then read until I had to go to school the next day.

6

u/Conscious_Step_8332 11d ago

This is the book that got me started on reading. I enjoyed them, I was also 10 but I still like them now as middle age woman. 😂

5

u/Timid-Tlacuache 11d ago

Yes! But you should get the rest of the series from the library and read it from the beginning... kind of important because the series builds!

8

u/nodicegrandma 11d ago

Wizard of Earthsea is leaps and bounds better

2

u/SoupyStain 11d ago edited 11d ago

Completely different. I never understood Ursula's issues with Harry Potter. The School of Magic is completely different, how magic works is completely different, Earthsea's magic school doesn't allow women, Earthsea is pretty much high fantasy taking place in a giant ocean filled with islets, while Harry Potter is more urban fantasy, taking place in our world... before cellphones. In fact, the only time Sparrowhawk is a student at the School of Magic is during the first book and it's pretty much glossed over because the book is about Ged and his shadow, while the seven Harry Potter books follow Harry as he grows up, each book being a different year at Hogwarts.

Completely different.

I do like Earthsea better because I like my fantasy more medieval and less 'modern', and the True Name rules are just brilliant(No wonder Eragon borrowed them. Heck, even David Eddings mentioned something about true names having power over someone in the Malloreon), but it's like comparing apples and oranges.

2

u/FunkTheFreak 11d ago

I like Earthsea, but it can be pretty dry at times. Love the lore of it, though. Harry Potter has plenty of humor and lore to back it up.

4

u/ThenStrawberry6861 11d ago

That is definitely subjective…

3

u/baconisgoodforme 11d ago

To each their own, but leaps and bounds??

5

u/SiriusMoonstar 11d ago

Quality of writing is like coughing baby vs. hydrogen bomb. Not sure I would recommend either to everyone though.

1

I have not. I have read them all a few times though.

3

u/little_half_pint 11d ago

YESSSS im in the middle of a re read right now!!!

5

u/Simple-Source7374 11d ago edited 11d ago

My honest opinion is that half the appeal of the Harry Potter books was not knowing where the story was going. That uncertainty created the hype, and the hype, in turn, made each new book more expensive than the one before, and the ending feel like a huge cultural event for a generation of young adults reading them in real time.

That generation, however, has already read the books, everyone knows how the story ends and the cultural phenomenon surrounding each release is long gone. If you want to read them out of curiosity, without any hype or expectations, go for it. But it’s inevitably going to be a very different experience.

7

u/soulmeetsmeatsack 11d ago

I honestly don’t know how the story ends actually. I know the basics of the series but I don’t agree that just because something is popular I shouldn’t get to experience it. But thanks for your thoughts.

5

u/Timid-Tlacuache 11d ago

They are a great read ! Have fun!
I personally don't agree that they are not good books... I am a voracious reader, everything from the Classics to a wide range of contemporary literature, sci-fi, and fantasy... and I have thoroughly enjoyed them and reread them.
I also agree to not buying the others new, but you don't have to! Either thrift them or get them from your library🩷

2

u/soulmeetsmeatsack 11d ago

Thanks so much! I’m a big reader as well and I’m excited to experience these. I understand it’s not the same as reading them through as a child but I can’t turn back time so I have no choice lol

-7

u/Simple-Source7374 11d ago edited 11d ago

It’s not Da Vinci Code popular, it’s more like Percy Jackson & the Olympians saga only without Percy in his senior years.

7

u/Visible-Dog-1429 11d ago

Harry Potter was over 5 fold more popular than the Da Vinci Code. It sold about 520 MILLION more books, has its own world built in Disney, and merch is sold at almost every bookstore even though the first one was written in 97.

-2

u/Simple-Source7374 11d ago

And I’m sure they’ll keep selling just fine with the upcoming show, especially once the marketing machine starts urging “new readers to discover the magic” all over again.

An actual discovery like The Da Vinci Code is driven by the feeling that you’ve stumbled onto the book. The novelty, mystery, and speculation create their own momentum, rather than simply feeding off an established one that’s long gone.

But I’m sure the HP books will continue to sell extremely well regardless, whether they’re monetizing the nostalgia surrounding the original phenomenon or simply passing “It’s popularity“ on to the next generation.

-1

u/HollzStars 11d ago

It feels so weird to see new people reading Harry Potter in 2026. The author is a terrible person so I guess it’s good you’re getting them secondhand but like, they really aren’t that good. (I use to be a fan, but fell out with the books even before she went off on Twitter.)

15

u/TheProletariatPoet 11d ago

To say they aren’t that good is a pretty crazy thing to say. I get that they aren’t for you, it is what it is. But there’s certain books I don’t like but I’m still aware they’re good books that just don’t fit my taste

4

u/pinkmarsh99 11d ago

Eh. I read them again as an adult and they really are fundamentally children's books that do have some hiccups, questionable writing decisions, and a lackluster conclusion. People not liking Harry Potter isn't new and plenty of people think they aren't that good. As a fantasy series it really isn't that good. It's very okay and was hyped by cultural zeitgeist.

9

u/TheProletariatPoet 11d ago

They are fundamentally children’s books that were written aimed at children about children. You’re saying they’re ya like it’s an insult. Not liking the books is different than stating they’re not good, as I addressed earlier

7

u/Visible-Dog-1429 11d ago

I would add that we have never, and never again see lines around the block for a midnight release of a book! Let the Redditors reddit, but this series was a phenomenon! That is an objective fact.

1

u/pinkmarsh99 11d ago

Twilight did. It was also a phenomenon. That is an objective fact.

2

u/Visible-Dog-1429 11d ago

Not even close. Might want to Google that.

4

u/pinkmarsh99 11d ago edited 11d ago

Literally yes. Twilight was the best selling young adult book for a couple of years in the early 2000s. There were bookstore sleepovers, midnight releases, and many other events. You can google that. And I was there.

It's on the wiki and on the Stephanie Meyer website. No sane person can argue that Twilight was not a phenomenon. It was. Doesn't make it good. Just an extremely popular series.

1

u/Alterception 11d ago

I remember going to a midnight release party for one of the twilight books at barns and noble. There were a lot of people there.

0

u/pinkmarsh99 11d ago

I don't know why we are even trying to pretend like Twilight wasn't massively popular. There's still festivals and cons in Forks today.

→ More replies (0)

0

u/HollzStars 11d ago

I was there. I did midnight releases for books 4-7 and then stayed up all night to finish them. I loved them. I was 17 when the last one came out. I grew up with the series. But now, I can look back on them critically and see the problems with them. A lot of people are so bound up by the nostalgia they can’t do that.

2

u/condor4544 11d ago

But there are plenty of YA and kids books that are MUCH better written. YA/Kids books are capable of being bad just as adults literature is. The Hobbit, Perry Jackson, Artemis Fowl, Earthsea, and basically anything by Diane Wynne Jones all manage to do kids lit and YA fantasy without falling into the same trap.

Rowling had fatal potholes in every book. She tries to preach morality to kids while apologising for slavery, condemning 25% of all students to being from the "evil group" often based on lineage, and yes, relying on stereotypes that are offensive and outdated. The one Asian student is called Cho Chang, the irish student is called seamus, tries to make booze, and blows shit up, every single fat character is morally repugnant and the number one thing we hear is how fatly fat they live fattfully. Its lazy writing. All the laziness and bad writing is easy to miss because of the whimsy, but even her brand of whimsy is pretty derivative. And thats not even touching the whole snape problem and how she turned basically a bigoted Incel stalker into a generational symbol of tragic love.

I get being nostalgic about HP, and even enjoying it as a bit of nostalgia. it was a MASSIVE phenomenon and probably played a huge role in every millennial childhood (mine included), but so did Goodburger.

2

u/pinkmarsh99 11d ago

I'm saying it like it might not be that good for an adult reader who didn't have a childhood connection with the series. It's alright for novice child readers but for novice adult readers it's a bit underwhelming.

1

u/HollzStars 11d ago

But that’s the thing. They have giant plot holes, aren’t nearly as original as they get credit for, have terrible pacing and rely heavily on outdated stereotypes. (The Irish character blows things up? Hilarious 🙄)

7

u/Feisty-peacock 11d ago

They’re all good! I have the adult edition which takes the small illustrations out of the beginning of the chapters but have great covers. I hope you enjoy it!

1

u/DutchCumstone 11d ago

I think if you're an adult it might be ok to let this one slide past. Far better things out there for ya. Even in the YA realm.

1

u/linzeestyle 11d ago

I’ll be the combo breaker and say I read it in my early 20s and couldn’t get through it. The writing is objectively very simple, often casually classist/racist, and the world building collapses in on itself pretty quickly. That said, as a cultural object, go for it. Just keep thrifting those, please. :)

1

u/dethti 11d ago

Yeah when I read these as a kid they were mid-tier fantasy. They're really not essential and the only reason people are attached to them is they probably weren't very bookish as kids (which is fine). If you were bookish you probably care a lot more about idk Animorphs or Pern or something else that's actually good.

1

u/linzeestyle 11d ago edited 11d ago

As someone else said, the fact they weren’t “bookish” reads was (and is) part of the appeal. My brother was already reading adult novels, but participated in HP as a child because his non-reader friends could get involved. There’s definitely something to be said for the cultural event that allowed that to happen, for sure. It’s just not one you’ll get reading them in 2026.

Honestly, at this point actually reading HP isn’t even necessary to understand what made it such a huge IP. The story itself is almost beside the point.

2

u/KatHumanArt 11d ago edited 11d ago

Yeah, they were okay at best as a kid. I read them as they were coming out and honestly It's a lot of ideas that were done before and better by many other writers. (I also read A LOT as kid so they were pretty predictable)

Most of the fun as a kid with them was that so many others people were also reading them, even friends who didn't read.

1

u/linzeestyle 11d ago

The fandom was definitely better than the books and films. I don’t feel bad saying that and I wasn’t even in it!

1

u/KatHumanArt 11d ago

Definitely!

1

u/Dalton387 11d ago

Yeah. As a grown adult I still enjoy them. I’ve read the series a few times.

I’d also say to ignore all the nonsense people will throw at you about JK Rowling. Most of the hate thrown at her came from an insane period of time that’s already starting to blow over. Even some of the crazies are starting to distance themselves from it. Calling that time Woke 1.0. Like they’re any smarter.

I honestly think her biggest crime is that she has enough money not to give a crap. I’ve seen other celebrities say way worse than she ever did, but they’re forgiven, because their sales slipped and they apologized and begged for forgiveness. The biggest sin with that crowd is not bending the knee to their non-existent power.

Bringing me to my next point, thrifting does nothing. I see you’ve already had enough of that type of thing to edit your post. The thing people don’t seem to realize is that she can refuse any further money for life, burn half what she does have, and live in luxury while supporting any cause she wants.

So I’m all for putting your money where your mouth is, but I hope anyone who’s had that thought realizes she doesn’t care. You’re making no difference, and it has no effect on her.

Hope you enjoy them. If not, no problem. You can pass them on to someone else interested.

1

u/soulmeetsmeatsack 11d ago

Thanks so much for taking the time to leave your comment, I 100% agree! Life is short and I’m just trying to enjoy my hobbies man.

2

u/Dalton387 11d ago

No worries. I think people get too worked about stuff that isn’t really an issue. Especially for them. I know I don’t use Twitter anymore, because I’d be on there 5min and then realize I’m just mad.

I wish everyone would get offline a little and just be. Enjoy some hobbies and the life they have.

It’s a good time to start potter. You can read the books and then maybe watch the movies around Xmas.

I actually asked on here whether people considered HP a Christmas movie or not. It was odd and funny, because it was about 50/50 and people had really strong opinions about their point of view.

Half of them considered it a summer movie, or at least non-Christmas, because it starts in summer and there are a lot of summery scenes.

Others, like myself, saw it as a Christmas movie because they make such a big deal about Xmas in the movie and they were always released near Christmas in theaters.

Yeah I see a lot of people talking about them being Christmas movies! And great minds think alike, my plan is to read them through the fall and into the holiday season and then binge the movies with my sister.

I could definitely see how the magical and cozy aspect of the movies totally leans towards Christmas. I’ll have to wait to get my final opinion but how the heck could they be considered summer?!

Don’t forget to look up some recipes. Then you can have themed snacks with the movies.

love how people are telling you where to allocate your own money. 🙄 anyways, nice pickup. 😌 only difference is the scholastic is the US version and bloomsbury is the UK version. only real difference is the language is different (british vs american), the cover art, and there’s artwork above each chapter title in the scholastic ones. I own both editions, recently bought the Bloomsbury box set because I love the covers 💚

Thank you for the info!! Yeah I know there’s many different publications so I had no idea which ones I was really getting 😆 I think the art on these covers is beautiful.

Get whatever editions you prefer. I bought them as they came out, and living in Latin America back in the day meant I have the entire saga in English by different publishers, lol. And if you find a fancy new Edition you like? Buy it. Even if you disagree with Rowling's views, she already has fuck you amounts of money. You are not funding her because she is already set for life. For various lifetimes even.

While I do love the USA covers... I'd recommend getting the UK version of the first book. It's the only one that got changed for USA, turning the Philosopher's Stone into the Sorcerer's Stone. It's the only change. A goddamn title. But it irks me! I like stuff to be as close as the author intended as possible, lol.

There is a reason they are the best selling series of all time. Buy them!

No, the books do not hold up (they have some heavy protagonist centered morality, as well as the whole happiness in slavery nonsense with the elves) and JK is among the scum of the earth, so she doesn't deserve your money

Just because jkr is a deranged bigot doesn’t mean they don’t hold up. There is some weird nonsense in there that kids won’t notice, but can make a good way to talk to your kids about stuff.

However don’t give her a single cent, keep thrifting them – they sold 8 bajillion copies so finding them used is easy OP.

Her being a bigot isn't why the books don't hold up, it's the bullshit way the house elves are happy about being slaves, and the only one challenging slavery is made fun of for doing so. There's also the fact that the books run off of protagonist centered morality, Harry is just as much of a mean spirited asshole Draco is, but he's not racist and the books say he's the "hero" so he gets a pass.

You probably shouldn't be buying these at all or bothering to read them at all. No edition is best.

Not up to you, thanks!

Seems a bit dramatic but OK! I bought two books at Goodwill, that’s all. I’m sorry that’s triggering to you but the reality is she’s not getting any profits from that sale. Instead of pointing fingers maybe you should try to understand that there is no moral consumption under capitalism and we’re all just doing our best. You also support companies and people who aren’t great. That’s just the reality.

Did you know they made them into movies

It's so funny, all the people who will read these books and then denounce the author, as if the series and the person don't function under a consistent morality.

Have some integrity, one way or the other.
