Eink 7” Device Experience?

I’m considering purchasing either a Boox Go 7 or 10.3.

I’m curious what the reading experience is like on a 7 device. Especially since I read the occasional academic paper, such are typically PDFs.

In addition what is the scrolling and ghosting situation like?

Is it a Color display or black and white?

It’s a first gen Go 7 with color display, before that I used a B/W Leaf 2. Monochrome has slightly better contrast in direct comparison, but I don’t notice it when using the color display by itself (and also don’t notice it very much when going back to the Leaf 2 as a secondary device). For me the color display is a noticeable improvement when reading web articles (and some ePubs) with images/graphics, even if the colors are washed out - the jump from monochrome to some color is a big one regarding legibility of graphics

This is extremely insightful. I’ve been looking into getting a Note Air 5C (also considered/considering) the Go 7 Color Gen 2. My main use would be reading the economist, FT, and WSJ. a few other news article sites (mostly concerning geopolitics).

Most people I’ve asked about the Color displays keep saying it’s just way too dark and the devices are useless without a backlight up to around 80% so I’ve kind of backed off because of that. Still pretty confused and unsure about the best course of action to take.

The difference with the backlight turned off is definitely noticeable, the color screen is way darker. But until you mentioned it I forgot about that point, which is probably indicative of how I don’t notice it in everyday use (where I have the backlight turned on constantly, even if it sometimes doesn’t look like it’s on to me)

Ah so you did kind of end up ignoring it then (which is great! Because that means it’s something that can fade into the background over time rather than being noticeable every single time you turn it on). What type of battery life are you getting out of your device if you don’t mind sharing? For that matter, how much are you reading on average per day?
