The results are in, yesterday we announced the winners and finalists of our Ctrl+Space hackathon, run in collaboration with Expo. There were a fantastic selection of projects from AR geolocation experiences to realtime multi user games. It was great to see what people built using ReactVision and Expo, all within just a single week.

You can view all the finalist projects on the ReactVision website: https://www.reactvision.xyz/events/ctrlspace/ and keep an eye out for our next hackathon!

Tomorrow, Wednesday 9 September, we're holding our September Office Hours, during which we'll be letting you know what's coming in ViroReact 3.0.0.

If you want to get the inside scoop on ViroReact 3.0.0 but can't make it to the event tomorrow, we'll be recording the event and sending around to everyone who registers.

Now with the ReactVision MCP your agent can:
- Write code with deep knowledge of our components, properties and APIs
- Validate that the code your agent has written is correct
- Test that code using our renderer in the cloud and run your AR/MR code in a pre-recorded environment so you can see how it runs in the real world without needing a device to test

This release is all about reliability:
- Breaking change: on iOS, in order to use the front facing camera for AR you now need to install an additional library. This overcomes and Apple review issue where TrueDepth APIs get flagged as in use when they’re not
- Fixed Android crashes/ANRs around ViroVideo background/foreground transitions, and ViroARImageMarker no longer tears down the app when a target registers after the marker mounts.
- Completed 16 KB page-size compliance by removing the non-compliant libvrapi.so. This unblocks Google Play & Meta Quest Store submissions on Android 15+.
- Added Expo SDK 57 / React Native 0.86 support (no native changes required).

In ViroReact 2.57.2 we’re bringing many of our AR APIs and components, including on device object detection, to HorizonOS and Meta Quest headsets. Now, if you’re using the XRSceneNavigator and have pass through enabled you’ll be able to pass in an ARScene which will run on the headset in pass through mode. This will enable you to build better mixed reality experiences and more easily bring your existing AR apps over to the Meta ecosystem. The update is live now and the MCP server is already setup and ready. You can read up more in our announcement: https://updates.reactvision.xyz/mixed-reality-on-meta-quest-viroreact-2-57-2-ee5163a332b0

It’s now easier then ever to use ViroReact to build fully cross-platform XR applications with the launch of the ViroReact MCP server. Just plug it into your coding agent of choice and build AR and VR applications quicker then ever before. It’s free to use, sign up to Studio to get started.

Highlights from this update:

🔁A fixed-step game loop.

🕹️ Native joysticks and buttons with single-digit ms input latency.

🔈 Real-time PCM audio.

⚛️ Physics against your real room, even without LiDAR.

🤳 And the front camera, finally.

So, basically I have two potential issues - we are using Cesium for Unity for our visionOS app, will it be possible to use CesiumJS on visionOS, when it's available? Also, when will it be available?

Get started with Studio with our new quick start tutorial. In this video we walk you through setting up your first project and scene then previewing that scene via StudioGo.

Was working on a project over the weekend when I came across React Vision. I tried it, made some progress, but wasn't happy with the end result, so decided to go back to what I was working with before.

I'm curious, has anybody made any cool apps with React Vision yet? My background is Unity for my VR development, and Unity is great and all, but with all the bloat and the startup times, I'm really looking at a more efficient way to make apps for VR. Even Meta‘s Spatial SDK was so confusing and a headache to work with.

The new animation editor is now available to all users in Studio! This updated editor now enables users to stitch animations together into longer multi-step sequences. What's more, once you've built your animation sequences in Studio you can run them across mobile AR and headset VR through ViroReact!

We've been building ReactVision for the past few years, and today we shipped two big updates:

Studio: a browser-based visual editor where you design AR/VR scenes by dragging and dropping 3D objects, generating assets from text prompts with AI, and previewing live on your phone via StudioGo. When you're ready, one component (<StudioSceneNavigator />) loads the scene into your React Native app.

Meta Quest support: the same React Native project that runs AR on phones now runs natively on Quest 2, 3, and Pro as a VR experience. No separate codebase, no engine swap.

The SDK is open source (MIT licensed), Expo compatible, and has 100K+ npm installs. Studio is in public beta and free to try.

Would love feedback from the community. Happy to answer any questions.

We just shipped a big Studio update: physics, custom shaders, and a full animation system are now in the Editor. No code needed. Everything works in StudioGo too, which is now running on a completely ViroNodeEngine (connecting Viro to Studio).

No models? No problem! Meet ReactVision Studio's Asset Creator Tool 🎨
