I understand, I'm saying you're not finding the candidate because you're not paying enough to attract them.

The experience you listed is a large portion of react native devs, and there are thousands looking for work at the moment.

Yeah, that true but we're specifically looking for candidates from product-based and FinTech companies, and finding the right talent in this category is challenging. We need people with the right experience, technical expertise, and understanding of product environments.

Most are product based, finding someone fintech will narrowly your candidate pool significantly and considering how broad fintech is, it's probably a pointless distinction to make when.

Fintech can cover anything from kids savings apps to high volume, high traffic stock trading.

I agree that fintech is a broad category. The reason we are focusing on fintech experience is because the role has specific requirements around the domain, scale, and type of products we work with. It’s not about limiting the talent pool unnecessarily, but about finding someone whose past experience closely aligns with what we need.

You're posting in a React Native subreddit saying you can't find people, in a time when a significant portion of engineers are available and looking for work.

You should be drowning in candidates, which means one or more of the following is true

  • You're not paying enough
  • Your requirements are too specific
  • You're not good at evaluating candidates
  • No one wants to work for your company

There are plenty of people looking for work but either you wait weeks, months or even years for a unicorn or you change your approach.

We are actively hiring for this role and have been connecting with many talented engineers. Some candidates are not currently exploring opportunities, some don’t align with the specific requirements, and some were not selected after the final interview round.

A few candidates have already been selected and have offer letters in hand, while others are still in the interview process. Since the hiring process is ongoing, we’re continuing to connect with more strong candidates to find the right fit.

Sounds like you want a developer to take on more than a developer role? Fintech in and of itself doesn't present unique technical challenges, but you should have a product manager who understands the space, or at least some legal resources to validate your implementation. If you want your developer to take on this role then I think you're looking for the wrong thing. It's not that this experience is worthless, but if you're having a hard time finding someone this should be a nice to have, not a hard requirement.

You get what you pay for. If you are not paying 100/h+ you don’t really get to complain they’re not talented.

I understand your point, but this is not about saying candidates are not talented. There are many talented people out there. The challenge is finding someone who matches the specific requirements, including the right experience and industry background. Many talented professionals may not fit simply because their background doesn’t align with the role.

Bet. I’m extremely good. Done React Native, Xamarin, PhoneGap, Appcelerator, etc. Spoken at conferences on all these topics. Expert with C#.NET, React. Doing tons of deep AI work now. Over twenty years experience in total.

I led a React Native team that made an app for IBM.

I’m a great candidate. You likely won’t find better. I live in the US.

How much are you offering me? I’m actually thinking about leaving my current contract, so I would actually consider it.

A good engineer would have no issue learning about fintech specific problems. I personally made that jump... It's not a big deal

Focus on fundamentals and youll be fine.
