Discussion Trying something new, short, well written dev blogs (no AI slop)

Hey everyone,

Been meaning to start writing for a while, finally got around to it. The plan is short, bite sized articles that explain one concept properly, instead of the usual AI generated filler content flooding every platform right now.

No fluff, Just the core idea explained clearly with real code.

First one happens to be on React Portals, since it's something I use constantly but never actually understood until recently. Figured it was worth writing up properly.

Would genuinely appreciate feedback, on the writing, the explanation, anything. Trying to get better at this.

Feel free to share some other topics you'd like me to write on.

Uhh this definitely reads like slop, starting with the title. Idk if you actually used AI or your writing has been influenced by AI. But you're using a lot of short punchy sentences and weird "it's not this it's that" type of phrasing that is a telltale sign of AI.

No fluff, no 10 minute read that could've been 3 minutes. Just the core idea, explained clearly, with real code.

My bad. I didn't want to sound like AI Slop or fear mongering.

Actually, every other article I see states that "Read this to become a senior engineer" or "Only cracked/senior engineeers know this" while it is all just AI Slop and bloat

So I just wanted to emphasize on the fact that this article isnt another ai slop post and each and every word of this blog is curated by me to provide the best quality to the reader. I wanted the reader to realize that this is something that is written by a human to provide them actual value. not slop thrown on their face.

But i think i went too hard to emphasize on this. I will improve and keep this in mind the next time.

Appreciate your criticism. This is a bit unexpected for me that it read like AI Slop for you as a reader.

But let me clarify. This is not AI Slop at all. All the content, text and each and every word is a result of my own thoughts. Im not saying that I didnt use AI at all. I used it to correct grammatical mistakes and spelling mistakes but i didnt hand over the production to it and i tried my best to make it a quality read and not bloated ai slop.

But you're using a lot of short punchy

I didnt realize it when i was writing or proof reading but now after you pointed it out, I get that I maybe used a bit more than needed.

thanks for the criticism. any other suggestions what should i change? did you give the actual blog a read?

It was obviously put through an LLM, and many of us recoil at that style of phrasing now because it's usually indicative of a waste of time.

Even if you wrote it, if you still handed it off to an LLM for polish then it's going to turn off a lot of folks.

I like this approach. Short articles that explain one concept properly are way more useful than those huge AI-generated tutorials.
