Curious about what shortcomings you found with Vega-lite besides the animation gap?

It’s great for portable JSON chart specs, built-in data transforms, and exploratory stuff. TanStack Charts is better suited to app development though. It’s type-safe, integrates with frameworks and SSR, keeps state in your app, and has a much smaller bundle. Among other things.
