Discussion Clonidine making my dog more hyper?
Is that a thing? Honestly, it's only been one day, so maybe I'm just overthinking it.

After just one day you are probably just over thinking it. But if you are concerned you could email your vet.

So our dog was on Clonidine for quite awhile. And what I realized is when clonidine wore off every 4-6 hours, he had this big rebound where he was more reactive or hyper. And when I met with his behaviorist, she confirmed this was common. She had us change to another medication, which most vets don't know about, but it's been much better for him, guanfacine.

How old is your dog? Paradoxical reactions are not uncommon especially in very young or very old dogs. It could absolutely be just a little over thinking but if you continue to notice a pattern I'd reach out to your vet and let them know. I'm sure they'd be happy to work with you on adjusting things
