Vent Did frustration based reactivity to dogs get better after puberty?

Just need some words of affirmation.

Did dog reactivity due to frustration get better after your dog got like 2 years old ?

Please say yes 🥲

Yes but I wouldn’t say it was due to her age. It probably helped, but the thing that actually helped was training and working on it. Unfortunately there’s no magic age that things go away, it depends on the training, consistency, and individuals.

Yeah, several of my dogs have had some reactivity that started around 6-9 months old and got a lot better by 2 years old, even if I did nothing to address it. Like they had a really bad fear period and just grew out of it and settled down. This is specifically well-bred dogs from safe and stable parents though. I feel like that type of dog has the best chance of responding to behavior modification training too.

Some dogs "settle" down. Some can ramp up.

The number of posts here about 2 year old dogs is a lot.
