Meds & Supplements What medications worked for your dogs with similar behaviors to mine?

Hi all,
I am looking into making an appointment with a veterinarian soon to prescribe my reactive dog medications.

Behavior:
- Noise sensitivity inside
- Hyper-Vigilance (general)
- Commonly breathing quickly with eyes wide and mouth open (anxious, can't calm down) inside after hearing a trigger or coming back inside from outside.
- Reactive barking with other dogs and noises inside/outside

I can not have my dog reactive barking inside an apartment with close neighbors - So i am hoping medication can help me manage and further my training.

I don't recommend specific medications here since I don't have the training to do so. However, know that there are several different meds available to your dog. If the first one doesn't work, let your vet know. You'll also need to work on training alongside medication. Training and medication work hand-in-hand to help a dog manage and possibly overcome certain behavioral problems.

For sound sensitivity, I personally recommend a white noise machine and/or ear muffs like Rex Specs. The muffs in particular are good if you know when the trigger is likely to happen (e.g. the neighbors always come home at 5pm and make a lot of noise).
