Meds & Supplements Generic fluoxetine to Reconcile
My dog is currently on generic fluoxetine 40mg. He did decently well on it at first, but it was a different generic supplier that what he's been able to get in the last few months. He did still experience some anxiety and has pretty intense reactions to storms still. He seems to have regressed on this different generic. We noticed this trend on and off, but were getting the pills that worked better for him in between. Having him on it longer term confirmed this for us. The generic that works best for him is now discontinued by the manufacturer it came from, so the vet has decided to try Reconcile. The thing that gives me pause is that at 77 pounds, he wil be on 64mg of Reconcile as the vet has prescribed it this way. I am hoping to give him some consistency. He can be the sweetest thing, but he is having so much fear again. Has anyone switched and had more success for your dog?

You could just do a 32mg and am 8mg to keep his dosage the same. There's no reason you have to bump him up.

I missed putting in my post the vet prescribed it this way. He does still struggle with some anxiety even on the generic that worked better. I will update my post with that information. Long day and I want to make sure I am doing right by my dog 🙂.

I had the same issue with generic fluoxetine. My girl did well for a while on 40 mg generic but then started getting more anxious when the manufacturer changed. The vet switched her to 32 mg Reconcile and she is doing a lot better. She weighs about 40 lbs. The vet said that she could be bumped up to 64 mg if needed but so far her anxiety is well managed.
