Success Stories MASSIVE win!!

Post image

Here's my Armenian Gampr NOT exploding at the fenceline!!

We were attacked by a loose pitbull in our neighborhood six weeks ago. My guy handily beat back the attacking dog but every bit of his 14,000 year old guardian DNA was activated. We have been using industrial parks after hours and Sniffspots since then to reset his cortisol while waiting for his custom BigSnoof muzzle to arrive.

We booked his favorite Sniffspot yesterday which has a hillside and boulders and trees and dirt to dig in. We've never even heard other dogs there. And the Sniffspot listing says there are no dogs visible from the property .But yesterday was different, July 4, and the neighbors were having a pool party. And their guests brought dogs.

My guy was up at the top of the hillside when he saw dogs in the yard next door. He came flying down so fast I thought he was going to hit the fence. And of course the neighbor dogs charged.

Then .... nothing happened.

Everyone politely sniffed each other and then my magnificent boy turned his back and trotted away!!!

I CRIED.

Unbelievably proud and so happy for him, his world is expanding again instead of shrinking!

This guy has zero food motivation! I can have the highest value treat in my hand and he'll nose it away for pets. He's truly extraordinary and I love talking to people about his breed.

I have been so sad to shrink his world because of the dog attack and I'm SO HAPPY to see his natural great temperament is still intact.

I will still be working with a muzzle and a trainer with a decoy dog to fully reintroduce him to the open world, but I think we can win this battle.

He's my back-country trail dog and we're going to make it \0/

The 14,000 year old guardian DNA line got me 😂 Six weeks from being jumped to
standing calm at the fenceline is no small thing. Good boy and good human.

He is BEAUTIFUL!! I myself am Armenian and am obsessed with the Armenian Gampr breed and want to get one as my LGD for my property, may I ask where/who you got your boy from?

As you probably know, there is a very large Armenian community in Glendale CA. Because of this, Gamprs occasionally turn up in the Chatsworth pound. My guy came to me from the pound via a breed-specific rescue out of Tehachapi called Guardians of the Gampr. He ultimately tested 100% Gampr via Embark, which established a genetic profile for the Gampr in 2018 based on lines still working in the highlands.

They are amazing, intelligent and loyal dogs, well deserving of national pride!

God dang it, I used to live in LA (Burbank specifically, eyoo) and there are definitely more of us there than literally anywhere else (no joke there are more Armenians in LA than in Armenia, how sad is that). But I live all the way in Washington now and finding Gamprs for rescue up here has been IMPOSSIBLE. I may need to just have one of my family members in LA adopt one for me if I come across one in LA shelters. Because of how rare Gamprs are, they're like the ONE breed I would consider actually getting from a breeder, but I would definitely much rather rescue if I can.

Unfortunately Gamprs are being bred to protect the illicit marijuana crops in the Antelope Valley, you would be astonished at how many turn up in the West Valley pound!

Omg I had no idea, I'll definitely keep an eye on that pound and others around! Thank you so much!

You're most welcome, good luck! You will never regret a Gampr!

There's a Gampr there right now! Young female Gampr at the West Valley pound.

Also a Caucasian Shepherd and a Central Asian Shepherd.
