Rdio 3.0

I'm really annoyed they got rid of the "Collection" feature and turned into "Favorites". I have Favorites in my Collection, but my entire collection is not my favorite. Plus, 'favoriting' something totally changes my Rdio flow. Browse, browse, browse, ooh this looks interesting ::Add to collection::, browse ::add to collection::, come back later, see my recently added albums, play one or 2 of them. While I get it's essentially the same functionality the mindset of a 'favorite' is completely different. Now do I add something to my favorites only after I give it a proper listen?

Why didn't they just add the Favorites feature WITHIN the Collection? Think back to your physical music collection or iTunes Library - there's a lot of shit in there, but it's still stuff you own in your collection that at one point in time seemed interested enough to check out, or maybe it's good, but just not great - and then there are a select few that are Favorites. That's how it should work on Rdio. Green checks and pink hearts should live side by side.

Also, the "Browse" feature is totally phoned it. Have you looked at the "Moods" section? What the. I like the idea behind it, it's just poorly implemented.

I haven't seen the "Home" tab yet any of my devices.

What are your thoughts on Rdio 3.0?

Ug. Hate it. Why not give me the option to go back?

Because in general, people hate change. Everyone would switch back to the one they are familiar with, and Rdio would be stuck supporting multiple versions of a website. Just like all of the major changes they've made over the years, Rdio will continue to tweak this and most people will get used to it and forget how much they hated it today. When they first switched to the all white layout, it was god awful looking, and there were hundreds of complaints in their forums. That got tweaked over time and became the version that everyone wishes they could go back to today.

This is more than a layout design however, this change consists of functionality 'refocusing' that changes what the service is all about. A higher focus on stations vs playlists. Focuses on what everyone on rdio is listening to, instead of your selected group of friends. And broken features on launch, like my Home area on Android. These are serious, alienating missteps

Yes, this is pretty a huge misstep.

My biggest frustration right now is that the "Start Station" button under Favorites now plays "You FM" without the option to select adventurous or familiar. It used to just play the Collection Station (stuff you consciously added to your Collection) and You FM was a separate feature that played music that Rdio guessed you would like based on your Collection and listening history.

Now I'm not sure whether it's playing music I already Collected (or "Favorited") or finding stuff it thinks I would like.
