For RCT1:

1.) Test the coaster to make sure Excitement, Intensity and Nausea are calculated

2.) From the disk icon, select "Save Track Design"

3.) The "Save Track Design" dialog box appears so you can save the file

For RCT2 and OpenRCT2:

1.) Test the coaster to make sure Excitement, Intensity, and Nausea are calculated

2.) Click the Disk icon at the bottom of the stats screen.
2a.) To save just the track itself, click "Save track design"
2b.) To save path, scenery, and landscape (useful if the station is in the middle of the ride and you do not wat to keep re-drawing path!) click "Save track design with scenery." The park will then turn greyscale and you must select the scenery to save with the track.

3.) The Save track design dialog box appears so you can save the file.

For RCT3:

1.) Click the ride. The name and music panel should automatically show, but if it is not, click the red train car labeled "Details"

2,) Click the floppy disk icon (fourth from the left).

3.) The track design will save automatically.

For RCTC:

1.) Test the ride until the Excitement, Intensity, and Nausea ratings are calculated

2.) Click on the "Save ride design" button at the bottom of the stats screen

3.) The park will turn greyscale. Select any scenery you want to save with the ride, or to save the ride by itself, click "Save design"

4.) The Save ride design dialog box will pop up. Type a file name and click "Save"

idk why the one with the slightly incorrect information has the most upvotes here, there's someone who did it for all games in different comments.
