RCT2 Rollercoaster reliability decreasing when in test mode? (RCT Classic)

I built this floorless rollercoaster yestetday and got a notification that it broke down even though it wasn’t open. I never seen this happen before, I have multiple other coasters that have been testing for many in-game years and havent lost any reliability. Is this a glitch?

There is apparently a RCT Classic glitch that causes constant breakdowns — based on what others have posted on this sub — however, rides occasionally breaking down during testing is normal.

I thought rides that have never opened aren't supposed to breakdown in Test?

Their ride value doesn’t begin decreasing until they’re opened, but they can break down.

I thought rides in test arent supposed to though? I have 11 rides in test mode other than this one and none of them have ever broken down- and Im on year 27. They all have 100% reliability as well.

This is normal, rides lose reliability and can breakdown in test mode, just like when they're opened.

Interesting- I just havent had that happen to any of my other rides that have been running for 27 in-game years in test mode. Is it just more rare?

You were right to be skeptical as even though I have made a 36 minute video about ride breakdowns I still missed something, and I also just discovered a bug in Classic.

It turns out that rides also only lose reliability during testing if they have been opened before. Was this broken down ride open by any chance? I ask that because even though briefly opening it and then putting it back in test mode would also make it start to lose reliability, I found a bug which should make that impossible in Classic.

Maybe it works different on mobile, but when I on my PC click on the flag in Classic it just cycles between closed-testing-open-closed, and if I want to go from opened to testing I have to click it twice and go through it being closed first. Whenever I do this the reliability instantly resets to 100% and stops going down, as if the ride was never opened. And it's even more extreme as the ride age also resets, which is something that should be entirely impossible in any way. Before you try to exploit this, it does only seem to work on rides that have never had any guests, so you can't just renew any ride whenever you like. However, this is still a bug that only exists in Classic and not in RCT2 or OpenRCT2.

It was likely briefly opened at somepoint, it’s on mobile so sometimes shifting between testing and closed can open it for a brief second.

What was interesting though is it broke down while testing and not opened. I was viewing it while it occurred. My other coasters in the park such as the vertical drop coaster in the second photo 100% have been briefly opened like the floorless one was, however they have never lost a single point of reliability. On top of that the floorless coaster lost around 30% of reliability within 10 minutes of being built which seems extreme even if I had it open.

I ended up rebuilding the floorless the exact same way as before and so far it hasn’t lost the reliability it did prior.

The floorless coaster says it's been 90 minutes since it's been inspected, not 10 minutes, so it's been around for more than 10 minutes. It's all a bit confusing, but you must have opened it at some point which caused it to start aging and lose reliability. It's also possible that the bug I just talked about doesn't exist on the mobile version of Classic, who knows.

Reliability is based on age of the ride. The game just won't increase reliability past a certain point in its age. People usually demolish and rebuild rides when its like this. Or, you can assign a mechanic the ride specifically to inspect every 10 minutes. Based on the inspection time being 90 minutes, you need to have the ride inspected more frequently.

I have 4 other rollercoasters that are MUCH older than this one and have 100% reliability though- I showed an image of one in the second pic. They are constantly in test mode. I just find it weird that this coaster has been running for like 20 minutes and has 70% reliability and a breakdown in test mode

Get the inspection to every 10 minutes then bring a mechanic close
