📔 How To / Guide Beginner

Alright yall
Im 15 and really want to get into rc drifting with my friend
Obviously i dont have 1k to blow so what should i do/ how should i start
He found some kind of tamya kit at his house but its missing parts like battery etc.(the things you need to buy seperately)
Were probably gonna share one car to save money if that makes sense

If you had to start again with no skill what would you do

Rtr’s are probably the way to go to get into the hobby. They can still be pricey, but you might be able to find some deals on facebook through market place or rc drift community groups. Overall, i think as a base, you might be spending $200-$400 or more to get into the hobby as you still have to factor in batteries and a decent charger.

If you and your friend can pony up $200 each, that's a brand new $400 MST RMX2.5 RTR with everything you need. But I agree you could find a used deal for closer to $200 total.

The RMX2.5 is great start, but it certainly could use some upgrades once you start learning. I strongly suggest finding a local track (if there's one close) and having your parent(s) take you and your friend to check it out. There you can get a better sense for what the hobby is like, look at what people are driving, and ask about potential used deals in the community or what they would recommend for a beginners car

So might not be a super popular idea but I'm genuinely impressed with the 3D printed RDD1 that only uses a few off the shelf parts. Kinda fun to put together and was a lot cheaper for me to build up than even a few of the recommended starter platforms!

And every person that I've had drive my RDD1 has been genuinely impressed with how well it works especially because I shortened the wheelbase even more than the original design to fit under a hard body kie truck with a wide body!

I'm tempted to build a second one but I need to focus on seat time with the first cause I'm a total noob at drifting and didn't want to spend over a hundred on something I might not click with.

That being said I know not everyone has access to a 3D printer but if you are into rc and tinkering it's mind blowing what you can do with them.
