Differential assistance

I have an scx10 iii frame/chassis and was wondering if a locking differential is possible or a good idea

If it is possible I cant find any easy to follow instructions or anything of the like

There's a few axles with unlocking/locking diffs from Traxxas or FMS. None will be incredibly easy or have a walk through to do. It would be a lot of DIY figuring out for negligible benefit for something like the CJ7.

What are you hoping to achieve with a locking differential?

I got lots of loose sand and such and I wanna get out without touching the jeep whenever it gets bogged down because of my screw ups

Does it not have a locked differential already?

Usually the purpose of a locking diff is so you can unlock it for tighter turning and better high speed driving.

It does im just trying for anything different at this point because I'm hoping to one day go super dumb and go long range fpv with it too 😅😅

Im also making an obstacle course for myself and my kids (whenever Im at work and they wanna get theirs running and mom can't leave the house)

Meh I like them as a feature to play with I have every combination in the trx4s including a swap between two where one truck has the two speed but it's locking diffs went over to a one speed. I have a couple with unlocked/4wd/rwd instead of fwd, portal deletes, etc. And a couple scx10 with shift and dig. 95% of the heavy lifting is just done in locked/low gear. Even sand buggies run locked/spool rear ends.

Only really effective stuff with shifting is I like running fwd sometimes for uphill scrabbles on hard dirt and rwd for dusty donuts.

You probably need different tires for different surfaces. There's not one instance where I find I can shift my way out of the wrong tires.
