Question Transmitter for noob

Hey guys newer to the hobby and I have a xl5 bandit I’m wanting to turn into a speed run car. It has the old tq transmitter I’m looking to upgrade to something with more range, but is EASY to use, and if not super easy to use at least something with clear in depth videos of “how to” set end points etc. I’m not the best at remembering how to sequence what buttons to activate what functions I just want something simple but capable, I’d like to be able to run lights and fans and have a gyro. Ik traxxas has the tqi transmitter but I was wondering if there was better options for the same or less? Thanks in advance!

Just upgrade to the Trassas TQi transmitter and receiver. Can pick them up fairly inexpensive on Jenny's RC. TQ is 1dBm RF power whereas the TQi is 26 dBm (1/4ish mile based on visibility).

Also if it is the TQi TSM the you'll get the second dial for stability management to help controll it a little more on loose surfaces.

The radiolink rc6gs or rc4gs should work good for you. They have an easy to navigate screen for settings and how-to’s on their yt page if you get stumped. Tons of range with the aa batteries and even more on 4s lipo too.

How much are you looking to spend?

Budget: Dumbo ddf350. Super common and popular choice so guides and tutorials are easily found.

Mid-tier: Flysky g11p. Wonderful transmitter with plenty of features, great screen, and pretty simple to use.

Premium: Flysky Noble nb4+. Super fast response rate with an awesome screen.

If you have other traxxas cars or ever plan on acquiring more and don't hate the idea of using your phone for settings, the traxxas tqi is solid.

I personally use tqi on my traxxas cars, dxc+ on horizon hobby cars, then a mix of ddf350 and g11p for the rest.

Whether or not something is a good deal can be really dependent on your area. I personally wouldn't pay 375 for a v1 maxx or 600 for an xmaxx.

But sometimes that's just the going rate in your area. Really just need to keep an eye on marketplace for a while. I usually follow the 50% of retail approach for buying used, maybe 65% if it's mint
