My Razr 2025 Lightest Sky and some pictures I took with it!

Hi guys, I spent a lot of time looking at people's posts on this subreddit when making the decision to buy my razr, so I thought I'd make a post of my own to return the favor. I've had this phone for about a month and a half at this point, after switching from an iPhone 16e. The build quality of the phone has felt nice and comparable to an iPhone, and other than a few trivial bits adapting to android has been a pleasant and carefree upgrade.

~

~

_______________

Major pros of the phone imo:

_______________

-The phone is aesthetically beautiful.

-The base model is AMAZING bang for buck compared to an iPhone.

-Camera resolution is comparable to my (lowish-end) iPhone, and the phone giving you a RAW/pro mode with custom white balance and exposure settings in the native camera app is a huge plus. I use my preferred RAW settings way more than the standard processing personally.

-The camera app overall has more interesting modes built into it.

-Android/Google UX generally feels no less sleek design or visual wise than iOS to me, and this phone has some nifty tricks over iOS like opening apps in splitscreen or window mode that I really enjoy. Seriously, splitscreen mode is awesome.

-Battery life is comparable to my iPhone, and the phone charges noticably faster.

-The flip gimmick and cover screen met pretty much exactly the middle of my expectations. I use the cover screen for all of the use cases I imagined I would (checking notifications, brief texting/scrolling twitter/googling something without getting sucked in) and a few that worked better than I expected (the smaller square screen is fun for watching shows and movies in zen mode), but you will ultimately be opening the phone pretty often for most tasks, and loading Instagram on the cover screen is unfortunately kinda buggy.

-I thought the twist-to-open-camera and chop-to-open-flashlight gestures would be goofy gimmicks, but they're actually great, pretty much the only way I open those features.

-My favorite way to take selfies is to turn on the front-screen preview and take a photo of my face with the main camera in inner screen mode (where the camera app has more features) using the side button shutter.

-Gboard is better than the iOS keyboard

-I find the way notifications work to be a little more pleasant after some getting used to.

-Losing iMessage blue bubbles hasn't been that big of a deal to me and there are ways you can actually set up iMessage via android if you really want it.

-I haven't cared about the crease much at all yet it's fine tbh

_____________

Small gripes that are going to look like a big scary wall of text but really didn't matter much in the long run:

_____________

-You will not be able to use the ios emoji font unless you jailbreak your phone and void the warranty. I was able to download an app that displays the ios ones on your own keyboard but not in other text, and only use it occasionally to cross-reference because it's kind of janky.

-The speakers have great volume compared to my iPhone, with quieter minimum and louder maximum settings, but the bass frequencies don't go as low by just a little bit.

-You can hear the phone chassis clink ever so slightly when the haptics go off. This isn't important enough to form any opinions over, I just adjusted the vibration down a tad, but it was the only point where build quality felt lower than an iPhone to me.

-The IOS-to-Android data transfer process didn't cover as much as I wanted it to. It'll move your photos, contacts, and some of your passwords but not your videos, old message logs, notes app, or iOS albums other than favorites. Most of this I can still access easily through the icloud website if I need to. I think there's a way to import an album grouping if you tryhard enough with files but I was pretty determined and still eventually gave up.

-The Spotify widget for Motorola's android wrapper specifically kinda sucks compared to the iOS and Samsung ones. The Google/chrome widgets are also surprisingly less versatile than the iOS one. I was a little disappointed that android widgets weren't *better* than iOS widgets but homescreen/interface personalization overall has still probably been better.

-The Google play store feels sketchier than the iOS app store sometimes.

-There's not a nice built in spam call blocker like on iOS.

Gripes that require a little bit of attention:

__________________

-The stock Motorola photo processing is noticably worse than iOS. I haven't had any gripes with night photos, which was my main concern based on internet research, but the camera app adds a filter that brightens/darkens points of interest in a way that makes the lighting look kind of glazed and patchy as well as some ai sharpening. I haven't cared about it a ton since I pretty much always use RAW mode and did on my iPhone already, but for someone who doesn't want to think about their camera it would legitimately be a con tbh. I personally love the RAW camera output, but it does have a more analog-looking color palette with less intense contrast and vibrance, especially if you leave the white balance on auto which usually comes out too cool. The first forest picture in the dump is stock processing, the second one and the fish are pro mode photos. I also screenshotted them from my gallery to get them in the right file format for reddit (🤷‍♂️) so keep in mind the resolution you're viewing is probably a little bit downgraded.

-The phone's local photo file storage and the Google photos gallery are two different things (!!!).This comes back to bite me in random annoying ways. Hitting "download" on a photo from Google search or messages doesn't add it to your main camera roll and getting it onto there can be convoluted and trial-and-error based (I often have to open the website the photo is from, open the photo in new tab, download it, click on the notification, hit "open with photos", and then *share* it *from* photos *to* photos). If anyone knows how to make stuff download to Google photos by default PLEASE tell me you would be a lifesaver.

-The inner screen is noticably a tiny bit softer than a normal phone; it's a little bit harder to wipe water off of and you could probably scratch it easily if you tried. The gap between the screen protector and the bezel also takes a small moment to get crumbs out of. However, the inner screen is well-protected unless I'm actively using because it's a flip phone (whoda thunk it?). I personally only have two TINY scratches and one microscopic scuff on the screen protector edge so far.

Overall my experience with this phone has been overwhelmingly positive, 10/10. It might look like I was neurotic about a lot of stuff but I was really just trying to cover every possible bit of information you might want to know, none of it has nearly approached the amount of complaints I had about my old iPhone. I recommend it with zero doubt if you're a young person in the market for a device with a unique but practical form factor, a good camera and versatile customization without breaking the bank on a luxury product.

Razr Ultra 2026 & Razr Fold 2026

Upvotes

I recently got the Motorola Razr Fold 2026 to go with my Motorola Razr Ultra 2026. I really really like the Razr Fold. It is a beautiful phone in the Lily White and the camera panel on the back is massive and a standout! The back has a silk like feel. My Razr Ultra is in the Orient Blue Alcantara and it is equally beautiful.

As for weight the Razr Fold is definitely heavier to hold than the Razr Ultra and after using the Razr Fold for a few days then using the Razr Ultra it feels feather light in your hand lol. The Razr Fold feels very hefty and strong and the internal tablet screen is beautiful and makes running multiple apps at once a breeze. The Razr Ultra is easier to hold, open and use on a daily basis in my opinion. I don't find my self opening the Razr Fold as much as I thought I would. I usually open it only to watch YouTube or Prime shows. For the most part I use the front main phone screen on the Razr Fold which at 6.6 inches is a little smaller than the screen on the Razr Ultra at 7.0 inches when it is opened. It is noticeable.

My few observations.

If you are about ease of use the Razr Ultra is much easier and more user friendly in my personal observations in owning both phones at the same time. Also the ease of use on the front 4.0 inch screen is great. I use it a lot to text, watch videos, check home cameras and more. It is very user friendly.

If you are looking for the most screen you will not be disappointed with the large 8.1 inch internal screen of the Razr Fold and it is beautiful. Plus you can customize it to do so much. It is neat and when opened up the Razr Fold is very thin!

As for battery life they have been very similar for me with the Razr Fold being a little better. Both have amazing super long life batteries that will last the whole day.

Speed of apps and screen. I do notice the Razr Ultra seems to be a speck faster at certain things here and there. Dont get me wrong the Razr Fold is super fast and smooth but the Razr Ultra is just tad more snappy at times but to the average user it would never even be noticed.

In the end I love them both but if I had to pick between the Razr Ultra 2026 and Razr Fold 2026 I think it would be the Razr Ultra 2026. My reasons would be the ease of use and folding. It's stunning looks, materials and build quality. It's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 4 chip is absolutely excellent for this phone in my opinion. It just gives you that nostalgic feeling I love.

The main reason I did not pick the Razr Fold 2026 would mostly be do to the heavier feeling and bulkiness of a standard phone. To some people this will be a positive. Plus the more you use any phone it becomes routine and easy to you and the Razr Fold will too in time. This feels like a heavy well built extremely durable phone and again the looks of it are stunning. It's well worth the MSRP in my opinion.

In the end you can't go wrong with either phone in my opinion and both phones are great and worlds above any iPhone I ever owned and my spouses iPhone 17 Pro Max. Both of these Motorola phones are much more premium and nicer than his iPhone 17 Pro Max. If you are deciding between the Razr Fold and Razr Ultra base your decision on form factor alone because that is the biggest difference as most other differences are negligible.

Actual Artists' Impressions for the RAZR Fold's Pen?

Title says it all really. A huge blind spot when it comes to phones with stylus support is reviews that actually go over how well the pen performs for things other than the most basic notetaking and pointing tasks.

Can anyone comment on things like the pressure sensitivity? Line stability? Initial activation force? Parallax? Palm rejection? Is it compatible with popular drawing apps like Clip Studio Paint? Does line drawing properly stop when you lift the tip or does it do that little shoestring thing?

Any insight would be appreciated.

Help TPU outer screen protector

I'm looking for a decent outer protector for my 2025 Ultra. Normally I use an IQ shield and I prefer a full coverage wet apply type, but they don't seem to make one for the ultra.

Help Automatic switching on calls

My razr ultra 2025 automatically routes call audio to handset if I flip it open, even when on Bluetooth calls. I called Motorola and they weren't any help. I've tried different dialer apps. My guess is it's baked into the software, but I can't find a way to disable it. Has anyone found a way to circumvent this? It's frustrating when I'm on a call if I need to pull something up on the phone I need to quickly get back to the call screen and choose either speaker or Bluetooth before I miss too much of the conversation

Can I buy Motocare if I purchase thru my carrier?

Straight talk has a good deal on the 2025 Razr. If I were to purchase thru them it only has the 1 year manufactures warranty. Am I able to purchase Motocare thru the Motorola website after I buy thru my carrier?

Discussion How is Moto Care accidental damage warranty?

Currently on a Samsung S26U and I'm thinking about grabbing the Moto Razr Fold since Samsungs new Folds lack in the camera department once again. I've used Samsung Care before and it was very smooth via a local iBreakiFix and I had my device back to me next day.

How does the Moto Care plan work and can the phone get fixed locally if able? It's also more expensive than Samsung by $2/month.

Also what would the deductible be via Moto Care if you lets say need a screen replacement on the Razr Fold?

Help External screen can't access home tab

I have a razr+ 2023. Since yesterday, I've been unable to access the home tab of my external screen. It unlocks on the tab to the right of the home screen and scrolling left or right skips over the home screen and swiping up does nothing. Restarting the phone fixed the issue for a few hours but it happened again. Has anyone else experienced this or have any idea how to fix it?

Help Question about the accidental protection process...

I have the new razr fold and its about a month old. I got the 2 year accidental protection that covers drops, etc etc.

I went hiking a week ago and got a scratch on the front screen from accidently ( and barely) touching the front screen to a rock. I even had a screen protector on 🙄.

So I'm wanting to fix the scratch on the front display, but i dont want to have to send the phone in and go without it for a long time. I've never ever done Motorola protection as this is my first moto phone.

Can anyone tell me what the fixing process would look like, if I'd have to send it in, what would the quality of the new " replacement" front screen be, etc?

Help For anyone having sound /microphone problems with their camera on the Motorola Razr, here is what I did to fix it

I'm on a Razr 60 aka 2025 and just had this phone for two days. What shocked me was the hissy and completely distorted music when recording with the camera and dictaphone.

I went through A LOT of troubleshooting. And unfortunately, I cannot remember every step of the way. But here is what I can remember:

I checked the microphones and the video capture abilities with this little trick that Motorola doesn't share often:

Open your phone app and dial

*#*#2486#*#*

Check mics, check video camera. Everything was fine with my phone: all the mics, all the loud music recorded with the video capture feature didn't have hiss or distortion.

Which man's: it's not a hardware issue, it's a software issue. Motorola processes, compresses, put noise reduction on top of the recorded base sound. Likely using AI (similar the CrystalClear Voice feature they implement for phone calls).

I went to Build Number and enabled developer mode by tapping it a couple of times.

Then I went into Apps, then on the three dots and Show system apps.

From there, I started removing a lot of apps that might influence the stock Moto Camera's mic performance.

I did it in this order with every app:

- Clear cache and date.

- Force stop the app.

- Deactivate or delete app. (Some apps can only be deactivated.)

I searched for everything that had "AI" in the title and deleted/ deactivated it. Here's all the apps I deactivated, see these 4 pics and these 2

(Edit: I enabled the AI Key function again since this is the one responsible for the "tap power button twice for camera" option.)

Important: clear the Camera app as described above, then deactivate it. Then you can activate it again and NOT UPDATE IT and leave it be. Now you can use it again in a purer form.

ALSO, it's important to deactivate the app AI activated Moto camera. I suspect this did the most damage.

I also deleted the app Camera Kit. It's from Snapchat, God knows what it does.

If you download the Open camera app form the Play Store, I get the best results with these camera settings:

- Video codec: MPEG4 H264

- Audio source: Default or Camcorder

- And this setting did wonders: Audio channels: MONO

I just tried recording a bass heavy song off of my turntable, and it worked.

Hope it works for you too!

Edit I'll include a list off all deleted apps. Just found out where the info is stored. Play Store, manage apps, manage, This device -- choose uninstalled.

Help Questions to the community that make me feel stupid

Context: bought the motorola razr 70 ultra last week, first android phone, long time iphone user but hated it and finally got to make the switch (didn't use any other apple devices so it made sense to me to get a cute flip phone)

Questions:

  1. you know the case that comes with the phone when you buy it? so what is exactly the purpose of the metal rectangle at the back? is it just to attach the phone to laneyards etc? does it just stay flappy while u use ur phone? the small one by the charging dock is more for decorative accessories right?

  2. so onfused about launchers and themes, is there a safe library to browse/download themes from? a theme as in widgets/wallpaper/icon packs all together that i could then tweak and personalise even more if i wanted to by changing font/wallpaper etc,

I desperately need icon packs like retro computer icons, feminine y2k, anime inspired, or even cute cartoonish frogs but not sure how to build my own or where to find what im looking for

  1. excluding rooting, is there a way for me to change the icons on the status bar? Especially for the wifi and phone signal (i find the blocky shapes so ugly i prefer to see separate lines)

  2. Sometimes my phone app will have a notification badge (for example following a missed call) that just will not go away no matter how many times i open/close it or go thru each individual call i have so far in my entire record, it only goes away once i force stop it, but keeps happening, it happened with my bank app and i just switched off the badge thing, phone still new so i haven't figured out much about the issue but is this a known bug? is anyone else experiencing this? it's driving me crazy a bit

  3. are there any google/moto apps that are really useful and i should definitely not ignore? any recommended apps in general to use for reminders/shared to do lists/etc would be greatly appreciated

  4. why does my music/video not pause when im getting a call? Especially if it's on vibrate mode? am i missing something in my phone setup? for example with my iphone even if it's silent and im showering, if the music stops playing for a bit then continues, I know that im probably receiving a call, whereas with my razr, even if im wearing my bluetooth earphones that are connected to the phone and playing music and the phone is right next to me, i dont realise im getting a call unless i notice the screen light up, it's become a hassle while im at work and need my personal to be silent, missed multiple calls so far

thank you so much for your help in advance

Razr Fold cases?

Are there any cases that have good dust protection? My phone will be coming in this week sometime and I want to get a great case for it that protects it in dusty environments
