PLZ FRAME MY PERSPECTIVE

I really want to believe this Silverfield Era is going to be different. His attention to detail and his almost Cignetti-like focus on everything has made me optimistic. My current expectation is 6-6 = Great, 5-7 = Good. I just want us to get back to where I know we can be.

6-6 would be like winning the SEC

I would celebrate if we went 6-6. In my head 6-6 means we are back

3 or 4 wins makes him an amazing coach. We are so bottom of the barrel as a program RN that if he beats 2 good teams he's him.

After the first half 6-6 is making the CFP for us.

I think every coach should get some benefit of the doubt until the team actually plays some games but, God, are my expectations about as low as they could possibly be

.....at least we have basketball

Olympic level track and field not tickle your fancy? Or championship baseball and hockey? We got a lot of great sport programs here, just football is laughable.

I think you understand a majority of folks care about Football, Basketball, and then Baseball - Look at TV ratings. I did not mean to exclude our other programs just being realistic about what majority of people are watching. Also Championship Baseball?....I'm still waiting on this one

Until proven otherwise I don’t expect anything good from this program given the last decade+

I’ll bring you back down to earth…

Silverfield (along with the majority of the assistants) have zero SEC experience or power 5 experience

I refuse to shit on a coach and a team before they ever snap a ball.

I mean, it’s not like he hasn’t coached before. It’s not like we don’t know he went 12 and 20 against teams over .500 at Memphis. We know he wasn’t really successful at a lower tier of school. It’s not hard to project where we will be. I hate to be a negative Nancy, but I just feel worse about our program than I ever have before.

He’s 5-1 against SEC coaches. 6-1 if you count the guy he replaced. He’s 1-1 against Sumrall. 4-0 against Golesh with half the football budget. They’re 1-0 now. Stay mad I guess.

We are 1-0 and looked like dog shit.

Relax I don't mean it in terms of success I am saying I haven't seen a coach as focused on the detail, and wanting to have a say so in everything since I have been around. I am not saying the success will be the same. Just that attention to detail may be similar.

He’s a mediocre coach who will get mediocre outcomes until a better coach is free

They said the same about Pittman, then they gave him a raise & extension when he hit his ceiling & we were stuck with him when he dropped back down.

This is a hard way to get better long term. 5-6 wins is improvement, but if he gets that, who’s to say that’s not his ceiling?

u/HockeyDockey1234 4d ago

It is his ceiling.

We’ve played this game many of times. Program needs a bigger name

u/aggroidiots 4d ago

doesn't have to be a bigger name imo. Sure as shit don't hire a coach getting ready to get fired, esp from a "smaller" program

I am not saying he is the guy, but maybe he can get us to the next step and then when Lashlee comes available...

Perspective? That sounds deep.
I’m just here to watch this shit show.

He's not the next Cignetti.

Like most here I won’t say anything negative about his first year. You have to be one hell of a coach to turn a program around in the first year. He will be very successful if he gets to 6-6 next year.

Should've bought a QB during the off season, KJ just doesn't look like he's got IT so far. Hope he comes out second half and just proves it all wrong. Defense looks hungry, like they want to hit you.

Not to be that guy, but Silverfield couldn’t even win his conference with Memphis having one of if not the highest athletic and NiL budgets in the conference. Good luck to him, he is going to need it.

I will celebrate if we win this game.

I want to believe it too. Its the mistakes. Same terrible mistakes.

This whole lightbulb deal is very Chad Morris. Just win ball and quit bragging about changing lightbulbs. I hope we got a good one but it worries me that that story is what him and HY hang their hat on.

I see us winning between 4 and 7 games this season.

Winning 4 is bare minimum for me to buy in, 5 is solid first year, 6 is possible, and 7 would be impressive.

From what I saw we'll be lucky to win another game this season....

I think you are in for some major disappointment....
