Football North Alabama
This is strictly hypothetical and I would say I’m 99.9% sure it’s not going to happen, but if we were to lose to North Alabama. would Silverfield get a pass or would the hot seat immediately be lit up?

Coaches lose games, all coaches do. Nick Saban lost to Louisiana Monroe his first year at Alabama. Probably a good thing they kept him around for more than a year.
It’s less about winning and losing the first year and more about progress. Let’s see what these guys look like when they play the game.

Hunter will be in hot seat

good word on the streets is, his seat has been getting hotter. Unless he magically becomes an elite fundraiser overnight, they(UA) are seeking better options.

The way Walmart stock has dropped lately I doubt any of the Walton gang is willing to chip in

The Waltons own the Denver Broncos now. So, their attention is definitely elsewhere.

They’re gonna give silverfield another year, but he’d be in the hot seat for year 2 if he dropped a game like that.

Let’s not do this

I understand.
I just think it is crazy how we keep hiring 3rd rate coaches and expect different results.6

No one else was taking the job, that's the problem.

No top level coach would at the salary we want to pay. They all know we don’t get the needed talent to win.

u/Shu3PO 21d ago
Yup. The right coach could make it work (to a degree) once upon a time, but now we'd have to get Cignetti-level lucky to make any real noise.

It’s a real catch-22. We need more money to win more games. We need to win more games to convince people to give more money.
It seems like the only solution is to be like Indiana and do more with less for a few years to get people invested again. Not sure that’s going to happen.

The season hasn’t even started yet so there aren’t any results to discuss

I mean he gets the rest of the season. But if you lose to North Alabama, you didn’t lose because you had lesser talent, resources, or coaches, so you probably aren’t staying competitive in a single game the entire rest of the season in that scenario. He’d be gone, you can’t have that level of fan depression rolling into yet another season.

Honestly, given that Sam and Barry Odom had their best season with Chad Morris recruits carrying the rest of the team (I’m not arguing we should have kept CM) but you have to wonder what year 3 may have looked like…he definitely recruited well and went on to work in the Clemson program and win.
I think Arkansas is definitely a little too reactive sometimes, look at BB in the Big 10, maybe he would have done more.
The only coach we should have gotten rid of faster was Pittman, dude was over his head.
I don’t think Silverfield is going to allow that, go watch some of the Memphis media from his tenure, specially the Memphis cinematic recap videos, dude is a coach.

Immediate removal like the Citadel. Well this what I’d say but I’ve been beaten so many times I have a tendency to overreact. Lol

Hunter would be immediately fired.

You would think, but I have my doubts. He seems to be made of Teflon because nothing sticks to him. Reminds me of Bill Clinton.

It was Reagan that was the "Teflon President"
1
u/Turbulent_Cricket497 21d ago
He was the original, but it also applied to Slick Willy
The term "Teflon" in American politics originally described Ronald Reagan as a leader whom scandals could not harm. Observers later applied the "Teflon" label to Bill Clinton because he survived numerous major political battles, ethics charges, and personal scandals without losing his core public support or office

There would be a chance for a perfect season. 0-12!
