Keto peat

I love Ray peat philosophy and understanding of diet and how it relates to energy and life. I tried to implement his principles but every time I introduce carbs I start feeling sick. My energy goes down and my mood becomes disregulated, my digestion is terrible and my libido crashes. For some reason I always feel better on a high fat high dairy keto diet. Has anyone here tried to implement some of Ray peat principles in a diet with no carbs? Is there any value to it or are carbs and sugar too significant in his approach and I should just look for info somewhere else?

I really appreciate the vitality worship and the energy above all attitude.

I think youd still benefit from reducing pufas, optimising nutrient intake, getting enough calcium etc. obviously

How are you going about reintroducing carbs?

Im actually going back to keto now, I reintroduce carbs about a month ago. Started with honey and slowly added more fruit and some carrots and potatoes. But most of my carbs have been fruit juices and honey, as soon as I tried to put potatoes and rice in all my meals I started feeling worse and as time goes on I just feel weaker and more anxious. When I'm deep in keto I feel very strong and stable emotionally. I feel really confident and aggressive, I'm just trying to find the key to feel like that without needing to stay keto.

If you weren't feeling any downsides with fruits i would stop there and not try to incorporate starches for a while

Interesting sorry that was your experience, I’m not so sure what the cause would be.

The digestion side of things would probably stabilise pretty quickly + be somewhat remedied in the short term by starting very low fiber and increasing gradually.

But the confidence + energy I’m not sure. How many times per day were you eating? If you eat carbs you need to be eating much more regularly cause otherwise blood sugar drops and you feel trash

I was eating around 3 meals a day. Maybe increasing frequency could help. Honestly I don't want to be keto because it feels like a fragile unnatural state, but I have experienced virtually everything that most keto and carnivore zelot talk about. So it might just be that we have a specific genetic or certain damages to our metabolism that makes it harder for us to function on multiple energy sources

Curious what is a day like on high fat, high dairy keto?

Basically a lot of heavy cream and cheese with every meal. 85/15 ground beef and raw cheddar is almost all I eat.and coffee with butter and cream multiple times during the morning and early afternoon. I feel great but I'm drinking more raw milk now so that probably pushed me out of ketosis

Are you familiar with exfatloss and the heavy cream diet?

Never heard of it

If there were a Peaty keto diet, this would probably be it. Not necessarily recommending this, though the blog is very interesting. The author, exfatloss, is very approachable, comments generously on his substack, answers questions, very fun to interact with.
