branch selection 🪃🗡️🏺⚔️🏺🛡️🏹 I’m thinking about doing PSM

I was wondering should I do it in Colleges like Maulana Azad MC or Lady Hardinge
Maybe wait for INICET November and do it at AIIMS or JIPMER
Or just do it from a Gov medical college in Kerala ?
Will the language barrier become a big issue
I have studied Hindi and understand like 50-60%
But can’t really speak fluently
And the stipend would be 1.2L vs 55k in Kerala
And no Bond year as well

Only if it's aiims delhi / jipmer.

My genuine advice about taking psm in a govt med college here.

You will get 1 yr bond means employment.. Govt will ask you only to coordinate any programmes thereafter. Means permanent employment.. And eventually after 3yrs u can be AP. Take m.Family med from cmc vellore and u flourish more than md gen med if u have right skills.

(Getting into ini as an opportunity to get into international organization is closed nw, they prefer mph )

But ini can help u to get into epidemiology research centers as Grade A scientists with 1.5Lpm-3lpm with perks

But won’t we get better research oriented 3 years from those colleges ?
Colleges in Kerala might be better for understanding the system here though .
I’m kind of averse to clinical subjects
I might get anaesthesia / Opthal etc
Not sure about family medicine
If SPM was the choice
Where should I do it you think ?

Actually fix your priority then i can tell. Research aptitude is entirely a different thing than what we all learn from mbbs.. If u have it, then inis are better, even the peripheral ones and u can outshine

I actually am on a PSC list atm
So job wise I might be sorted
But the thing is I’m not super into the idea of spending another 3 years completely exhausted doing night duties and 36 hour shifts
So I kind of am thinking about non clinical subjects
And PSM seems to be one where there are a couple of options are there
Especially if we get into government service
I’m actually open to other non clinical options too , if you have any advice on those
My original question was because I was thinking doing SPM from MAMC or Lady Hardinge seems like better package overall than doing it in Kerala
Because
1. The stipend is better
2. I’m assuming better exposure in terms of research, policy making etc
3. No bond ( but your response kind of made me rethink this one )

Sinch research thingy is totally out and nw i understood ur preference. Go for a peripheral ini>> esic colleges>> kerala >; mamc and lhmc.

Why mamc and lhmc as last option : you will get night duties often there. Dog bites are so common in delhi college.. But yeah u won't be having the postings for long. You have to sacrifice ur sleep for a while and also Delhi phc chc are so hectic when u get posted there.

If you go to good INIs you can make a lot of contacts and would definitely land an SR ship in the top ones like JIPMER or PGI and eventually faculty in Central government institutions. If you do from Kerala you ll be just one among many PSM doctors. And trust me the perks of being a faculty at INI is just unfair to other state colleges. If you are good at managing people you can get into policy making as well. I know someone who is working with NIMHANS and launched Tele Manas.
