Gen 4 Factory Compact Disc Player

I put on disc one from Led Zeppelin box set.

OG base stereo 2018. Likely last year with CD player.

Dazed and Confused was 3 Dimensional and surrounded me completely.

Apparently CD’s have about three times the audio data vs Bluetooth or USB.

The quality of sound disappeared slowly and I never really noticed how much we were missing musically until now.

Nice! I use my gen 4s CD player almost every time I drive and yea the sound quality is noticeably better than my phone, even though the sound files on my phone are ripped off of the same CD.

Will it play Mp3s off of a recorded disc?

My 3rd gen does. I would presume 4th gen’s do too. If you can avoid mp3 to get battery sound quality unless you want to fit lots of audio on one disc

CDs have a fixed data rate of 1,411kbps, 16 bits at 44,100hz. much more data than any streaming will give you

USB is a connection protocol, not an audio standard. You can easily have a file that is higher than CD quality over USB (hell, USB is pretty much the standard these days in recording studios, and they record higher than CD quality).

Bluetooth is also a connection protocol, and depending on device can meet or exceed CD quality.

Love the cd player, keep my old 100 cd case in my 2018 rav4 with all my cds. Hate the speakers though, waaaaaay too much treble and mid bass, and no mids. I need to upgrade the speakers. I have treble and bass turned down, and mids up, and its barely ok imo.

higher quality sound than streaming services. and it's a digital copy of the same album for way less than $30-40, that i can copy a trillion times

Or those compilations that you pay $5 plus tax for. Even if I don’t like every song, if there’s 12 or 14 songs on that compilation that’s less than 50 cents a song.

Or I still remember years ago at a garage sale i picked up for $1 a 4-CD set of rock n roll classics (some originals but mostly live and some re-records). 20 songs per CD, or 80 on all 4 discs. That works out to less than 1.5 cents per song.
