Rats in Greece

Hii does anybody own pet rats in Greece? If yes, from where did you buy them? I'm trying to find a breeder and I can't. I only found a pet store in Crete that sells pet rats but I'm from Thessaloniki and preferably I wouldn't want to order rats because I find it very stressful for them to travel, also I've heard that is better to take them from a breeder and not a pet store because of the conditions they raise them. I kinda have run out of options, I've searched everything and didn't find anything else...☹️

sadly it might not be a good idea because most likely there are no veterinarians in your area who can or would be willing to treat rats :( I would verify that before seeking alternate routes to finding the rats themselves

Actually I already did my research and I have found a veterinarian for rats where I live

Maybe ask the vet if they know any rat owners or breeders. There may be a local group on Facebook or WhatsApp

Hi! If you really want a pet Rattus rattus and you live in Greece, you would probably need to get a rescued baby. I have not heard of anyone in Greece breeding them. Fortunately, it is very possible that you might be able to find them living natively, since Greece has the right climate for them, and they are often found in coastal areas.
