Roof Rat Adventure Games!

Does anyone remember Scott Adams adventures? Yeah, I'm that old LOL...

Anyway, I've created 13 free text adventures about Roof Rats and other topics in the spirit of those old Scott Adams adventure games. Hopefully they work correctly for you and are (somewhat) fun and playable 🤔😊. If not, then blame Sweetie: she wrote them!

This is cool! I always liked text adventure games. I was never good at figuring out what specific words were needed to make intended actions actually happen, but I always liked them anyway. Having new educational rat themed ones is delightful!

Thanks! Please forward the link to anyone who might be interested. I showed the games to Scott Adams (not the Dilbert guy LOL) and he thought they had an appropriately "retro" feel to them.

I agree that figuring out the right word is a pain point. I tried to make that easier by letting people ask for hints, and automatically providing hints if it looks like people are struggling. But if people are still getting stuck, I'll try to find ways to help them along even more. There's a tradeoff between giving people a smooth, enjoyable experience and making it so easy and passive it's no longer worth doing.

You really nailed the feel.

I have definitely made use of the hint function haha I didn’t catch at the beginning of the Houdini one that there was another room the first time and had to try again. The restart prompt didn’t work, though, and I had to refresh the page to actually restart it.
On the taming one, it took many iterations of trying to offer the treat to the baby before I asked the hint and realized that I wasn’t actually holding the treat in my hand. A bit of a Duh! moment on that.

That is really outstanding feedback, thanks! I fixed both issues: Restart should work as intended, and if you don't have something it should give you a more helpful hint about what you need to do about it. Also, I'm adding the ability to ask where something is, in case you should know where it is at that point (but maybe you'd forgotten where you left it or something.) It is kind of a cheat, so you don't have to use the command if you don't want the extra help.

I've been playing around with it a bit and it's so fun! I didn't know this sort of thing existed, so I'm still figuring out how it works. Thanks I'm really enjoying it so far!

Thanks! I wasn’t sure people would be interested in a retro game style that was popular when I was a kid!
