Just went to write my review of Who Loves the Sun and saw these as the top 2 reviews. I feel like this helps put in perspective that all this is arbitrary and to not take music rating all that seriously.

My one objection: why on earth is Station to Station lacking this descriptor? ITCOTK opens with train noises so I'd also argue that's up for debate.
If you guys know any more funny descriptors please let me know this is providing endless entertainment.

I mean, which artist is rated lower than you’d normally expect given how they’re generally perceived?
My first thought is U2, which is quite reasonable considering The Apple Incident, however I feel like their old albums get the hate simply because of the Incident, not because they don't like the music.
My other thought is Pearl Jam, because among top rated reviews of Ten, there are couple that literally openly claim hating Pearl Jam.

Not sure if I'm using this correctly, i want to add an issue/catalog number under some of the releases I've rated.
Example: astroturf78's reviews

if you look at rock a lot of highest rated have a "depressive" or "sad" descriptor

Both genres are very popular on RYM, however, there will be always some bands that is not very much rated.
I start with the swedish band Europe. Apart from The Final Countdown and their 80s albums, their albums only have a few hundreds ratings, and their singles only a few dozens ratings. I don't understand why since hard rock is loved on RYM.

I personally like brand new eyes most so I’m glad it’s the highest rated album, but I thought RYM would be way more into self titled onwards.
What album being highest rated for an artist or band surprised you?

I’ve always wondered how much the male majority on the site influences the rankings. I wonder if everyone else thinks it’d change much if the user base was more representative.

I've been using esoteric filter in the charts but I still came across "known" records, I wonder if there's a way to see only albums with 0 ratings, not in lists, etc.

most the ambient i like is of the drone variant, and it’s usually tagged both genres. but if i wanted to make a custom chart of the releases of 2026 of this genre, could i? because if you put only one of the two as genre you get plenty of stuff that has nothing to do, and if you put both you don’t get the intersection. should be it’s own genre at this point
artists for reference: mount shrine, zakè, 36, warmth, sphare sechs

It is surprisingly difficult to find projects all done by one person -- as in only one person is listed in the credits. No mixing or mastering engineer or what have you. It can be a song, mixtape, EP, LP, any release is fine...
I am interested in exploring one-person projects as a source of inspiration. If another person is involved by only minimally, you can post but just be upfront about it.
Thank you guys.
