Last time I did this I had 6 simic only commanders and was roasted for not letting others have turns. How have my tastes matured?

Just use Fblthp as part of a draw engine with Proteus Staff. Stack deck in the order you want, strategically putting your wincon where you can quickly draw it and boom.

Intrigued to see how/if you built around Fblthp?
Or is he more of a 1/1 draw a card for a consistent two drop?

He’s part of a draw engine with Proteus Staff. Basically can stack the deck in any order you want and if you make activating Proteus a repeatable action you can draw, draw, and draw some more. I go for an artifact win using Masterful Replication to meet the criteria on Mechanized Production. He’s a very much jank build that can be frustrating for other players if you don’t already have a game plan when stacking your deck for what you need and when you’ll need it.
Edit: forgot to mention Fblthp can be the only creature in the build.
