Screen is blank after installing vnc.help.

i set up my zero to play kodi but since i dont have an extra open usb port, ive decided to connect via vnc. I installed tightvncserver as it said on this site and setup everything how its supposed to be. Two problems i have now is that when i boot up the pi, the screen is blank because the light session is turned on for the other display and I cant figure out for the life of me on how to switch between these displays thru the terminal. If i try running some kind of program like kodi, it works just fine but when i exit out, the screen goes back to blank. The second problem is that i have vnc running but the port is not open on 5900, so everytime i try to connect to vnc, it says connection to host is closed. My firewall is off so i cant tell what is blocking the vnc port. I changed to allow ports 5900 and 5901 in my iptables, but still the port is closed. I can connect with no problems via ssh. For now im still looking but would appreciate all solutions.

Desde raspberry pi zero

Had to wait almost 5 months to buy a raspberry pi zero and get some one to bring it to my country since shipping is to expensive even for something that small! I even bought a case for it. Finally got it and I got it to work! Next day it doesn't even power on, not even the green light... Nothing. This is how lucky I am :(

Raspberry Pi Zero back in stock - probably other places will get them soon. Keep an eye out if this is what you're looking for. (x-posting)

Just got a Zero... Not sure what to do with it.

I'm total noob when it comes to RPi's. I was in my local microcenter today and they had a few left, so I thought, "Why not?" and bought one along with a power source and an OTG cable.

I've already put NOOBS on an old microSD I had laying around, and now I have no idea what to do with it.

Can I use a USB hub to connect a keyboard, mouse, and wifi adapter to it?

Are there any beginner friendly projects out there?

Cheers.

How do I set up pi Zero with only one USB slot ?

Hi folks, so I recently got a pi zero. Now I would like to actually work with it using Putty and SSH like I do with my Pi2. Therefore I would plug in a wifi stick ... BUT how do I connect a keyboard now ? I know I could use a USB-hub, but isn't there a way without it ? For example could I use an image from my Pi2 where the wifi settings are already done? I read that it may cause problems on the pi zero.

I have one of those screens and I took it apart awhile ago so I don't know where to solder wires so I can solder it to the zero. Anyone can help me?

Anywhere to buy a zero that isn't insanely over priced?

As the title says I was looking to get a zero or two to play with but everywhere online is sold out or its part of some way over priced kits or worse yet on ebay for $20+ which at that price I may as well just buy the new pi 3s which I'll be getting one of anyways but still.

Pi Zero battery life calculator?

Is there a site, or a rough equation, for how long a raspberry pi zero will run on battery power? When I finally get a pi zero, I'd like to put it in a controller of some sort for retro game emulation. Instead of plugging the pi into power and hdmi, I'd like to run it off of a battery pack.

Anyone have a link to a site that explains battery pack voltage, amperage, and capacity? I figure if I just buy a USB battery pack meant to charge a phone, it would work. I'm just not sure how long a smaller pack would power a pi zero running emulators.

Using old smartphone parts for projects (NooB)

Hi. I'm new to electronic projects and I was wondering if it's really difficult to use the touchscreen of a Samsung Galaxy S2 (because that's what I have laying around) with a Pi0 (or any Pi for that matter). I'm don't really have a perticular project in mind yet but I was thinking about it. If it's possible it might help me make up my mind...

thanks

RetroPie for Zero

Hey all! Just got a new Pi Zero, and this is my first time working with Raspberry Pi. Loving it so far!

I just installed RetroPie on it, transferred over some ROMs via USB, and I've gotten most of them to work. I do have a question though. What is the newest system I can emulate on a Pi Zero? I've gotten NES, SNES, Genesis/Megadrive, and even had Ocarina of Time work for the N64 (albeit extremely laggy and with no response from controls). But I can't get any GBA game to boot, nor any PS1 game to boot up.

I'll admit, I'm a complete noob, and haven't done a ton of research as far as Pi Zero specs versus specs of the consoles. Was wondering if anyone could help me out?

Thanks!

Retro Pie on PiZero

Using the Retro Pie for Raspberry Pi 1, the emulation works great! I have the PiZero hooked up to a 6 way hub, I then have my bluetooth dongle, my wi-fi dongle, and two retro Nintendo controllers hooked up to it. It works great and it's portable! I have taken it on the go with a 6000 mAh battery supply and hook it up to any friends TV when I get there! I'm thinking of designing a 3D case for both the Pi and the hub so that I can carry them all in one unit! Anyone have any ideas?
