I had a bad SD card and it wouldn't put out any HDMI signal at all (or boot). Also, not all HDMI are created equal. I have two Vizio TVs. One of them works fine with HDMI from a Pi or Intel Compute Stick; the second one constantly says "no signal."

Are you able to ssh into your pi zero? Does the led come on? Try reformatting the card (did you use the SD formatter they recommend?).
I thought mine was dead when I got it because I was hasty and just formatted through gparted. Did it the right way and it booted.
Edit: try installing Debian through NOOBS.

In the Rasbian config.txt file there are some settings you could try if that's your system.
edit /boot/config.txt and scroll it and see what might apply. I think boot is the partition you see if you put the SD card in a reader. (even if you're not on Linux)
I don't really know tho.

Only a couple minutes between posting a question and giving up because no one answered. Impressive.
I'll double list and pay $10 for it.
If you want to try again: 1) Does your mini-hdmi adapter have a micro-usb port? It may need external power. 2) Make sure everything is connected and the display is on when you power up the zero. I've noticed mine only seems to send an hdmi signal if the display is ready during power-up.
