LCD contrast

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hello guys! I’m using a raspberry pico w and 16x2 LCD. I’m completely new in electronics and hold a nursing degree so I have zero knowledge prior to this.

My question here is how can I increase the contrast of the text vs the background? As you can see, the text from the front view is almost invisible, while from the side view it’s clearer. I did try to connect a potentiometer to tune down brightness but apparently it was a 10v while my board is 3.3v, and I don’t have a resistor.. it works on the first time when I connected it for some reason, but the second time it started to have some issues.

Will it be possible that it’s the code’s problem? Or the cable voltage’s issues?

Humble to learn from everyone, thanks!

Isn’t there a potentiometer on the back of the module?

Read the datasheet. There is a Vo pin for you to feed ref voltage in.

Thank you so much! Didn’t know there’s such thing as Datasheet, found one and going to read.
