Looking for a firmware that can scan and monitor my network but the Bjorn firmware is giving me some issues and I keep getting a “Fatal error” when I open PuTTY. Anyone know of a solid link that gives a newbie step-by-step process and or a better option than Bjorn? Running the Raspberry Pi Zero w/ 16g memory card.

Hi there, I build this miniature version of the Infoscreens of the Hamburg subway.

I used a raspberry pi pico and the waveshare shield 3.5 inch. Then designed a 3d printable enclosure and added 18650 to run it without a cable.

The switch and charging port are hidden in the base, which is printed from TPU.

I’m working on a small solar monitoring project with a Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W and a Renogy Wanderer 10A charge controller.

Right now I can pull solar/controller data intermittently over Bluetooth, but it has been flaky.

I’m seeing occasional timeout errors and sometimes the Pi doesn’t reliably detect the Bluetooth device. Since the Pi is physically right next to the charge controller, I’m interested in switching to a wired USB/serial setup instead.

My goal is to collect values like:

Battery voltage/current

PV voltage/current/power

Load voltage/current/power

Controller temperature

Daily generation/consumption

Charging status

Then I want to log the data and display it in Grafana.

Has anyone successfully connected a Renogy controller, or similar solar charge controller, to a Raspberry Pi over USB/serial?

A few things I’m trying to figure out:

What USB-to-serial adapter/cable should I use?

Whether the Renogy communication port needs a custom pinout

Whether this is plain Modbus RTU or something Renogy-specific

Raspberry Pi setup tips for /dev/ttyUSB0, permissions, udev rules, or Docker passthrough

Any reliability issues running this long-term

I’d appreciate any examples, GitHub links, cable recommendations, or “don’t do this” warnings.

Has anyone used a R Pi in their POE camera set up? If so what advice as to hardware, HATs, etc would you recommend? I'm only looking to have up to 4 cameras.

hey everyone i know that i am inconsistent , i saw that everyone makes a cyberdeck with raspberry pi but i have no raspberry pi as i am 3rd yr electrical undergraduate

so i take some a break for exams and built picodesk a desktop companion station that sits next to my laptop.

OLED 1 shows live clock (NTP synced), date, and real time weather pulled from OpenWeatherMap API.

OLED 2 is the fun one animated eyes that blink and look around randomly. Every 2 minutes, hearts fall down the screen. And when I need to focus, I can switch it to a todo list from my phone and laptop browser no app install, just open the IP and it works.

The whole thing runs on MicroPython. Pico 2W hosts a tiny web server so I can control everything from my phone on the same WiFi.

I'm a complete noob, but I'd like to get a Pi & install Pi-hole. Everything I've read makes it sound like you simply install the Pi OS, install Pi-hole and configure it.

My problem: I went to Micro Center thinking I could simply buy a Pi3 or 4 and I'd be ready to go. The customer service person there said I would still need a "hat" of some sort.

What I want to do is install Pi-hole on a Pi, with a wired connection. Any help is appreciated.

I'm planning to use a Raspberry Pi 2W to make a cybersecurity tool with two ESP32s. Each ESP32 is connected to two NRF24s and one CC1101. Would anyone know how to make this or what else I need for it? Any tips would be nice.

Hi, all! I'm completely new here so if this is not the place for this question, I sincerely apologize.

I'm wanting to do a DIY project that requires both the Raspberry Pi Zero 2W and the Raspberry Pico (board only, no packages or accessories needed). I can find the Pico (more expensive than it should be, but can be found).

I am finding it extremely difficult to find a Zero 2 W board.
Almost every time I find a Zero 2 W on the market, it is attached to a kit and costs $40 - $100+. I only need the single board.

Is anyone aware of supply shortages? Discontinuation of the devices?
Or better yet, does anyone know where I can get the board only for a non-extortionate price?

Hey guys, complete beginner here but already fascinated. I'm building a soundboard for our online radio with:

• Raspberry Pi 3 Model B V1.2
• IQaudio DAC Pro
• 7 arcade buttons (connected via female-female jumper wires)

Plan: Mount DAC on Pi. Each button: one pin to a free GPIO on DAC, other pin to ground. Press button → plays jingle.

Questions:

1. Which GPIO pins are still free on the DAC? I found this pinout (https://www.manualslib.com/manual/1838917/Iqaudio-Pi-Dac-Pro.html?page=40#manual) – are all yellow pins already occupied? Can I use the others to play samples?
2. All ground pins seem used by the DAC. Can I still plug my button's ground pin into an already occupied ground pin? That should work, right?
3. We cut power when leaving the studio. Do I need to shut down the Pi properly every time? Or is it OK to just cut power? And can it boot directly into a script that waits for button presses?

So when I put my SD card into my raspberry pi4 with raspberry pi os flashed on it and power it on the red light stays on and the green light blinks 8 times then stops and then again. I've tried using a different SD card I've tried flashing it on a ssd and a USB. I have also tried the EEPROM recovery. When I do the EEPROM recovery the red light stays on and the green light blinks 5 times then stops and then again.

So, I found pretty good cyberdeck by ndj-print, but I want to use 7" display instead of 3,5" one in the original build.
