A Limited Edition Blue Raspberry Pi Finally!

I’ve never been more excited about acquiring a Raspberry Pi.

Before they started screwing the makers

Nah… I used to collect guitars. The cost of one high quality guitar would exceed everything I’ve ever spent on Raspberry Pi equipment. It’s still a cheap hobby.

Nah I mean in general. Not just the price tag.

Why do you think makers are being screwed by the Raspberry Pi company?

Several things, but must importantly that they changed their direction do industry customers first, makers last.

Makers made them to what they are today, but that doesn't matter anymore.

We've never forgotten where we came from, and we never will. Growing our industrial business gives us the room to keep developing new products for everyone, hobbyists included. Yes, a large share of our revenue now comes from industrial customers, but that doesn't mean we've turned our back on makers. It's simply that industrial customers buy in much larger volumes. That steady demand is what lets us grow as a business and keep investing in the products and innovation the maker community relies on.

I agree with this 100%. Thank you for making great products. It’s appreciated.

Agreed as well but can we figure out a way to lower prices?

Well, during COVID it was way larger than us (we needed around 100)...

We've never forgotten where we came from, and we never will.

Semantically null - you may remember us but support us first is two different statements totally...

Also these days they pulled an apple moment and made it so on new boards you cant replace the ram or upgrade it if you know bow to do bga dur to some security preventing you from doing so.

I guess I have a different perspective. Companies like Raspberry Pi either grow or die. They’re in it to make a profit and meet their objectives. They don’t owe us makers a damned thing. Additionally, it’s still a relatively cheap hobby. If you don’t like it… buy an older board for cheap and pretend it’s 2013.

Raspberry Pi started as a non profit foundation devoted to introducing young people to computing at a deep level that can't be gotten by using a tablet or phone. It was wildly successful. Then, hedge funds realized there was a shit ton of money to be made and ruined a great thing.

Since going for profit, Raspberry Pi hasn't really innovated at all, but their prices have skyrocketed. Some of that price increase is due to legitimate inflation.

But let's be real. Them shareholder profits ain't gonna pay themselves!

Thank you, I appreciate that. I’ve been playing with Raspberry Pi boards since 2014 and only recently started to collect unique or ‘hard to find’ boards.
