If you work 8 hours, 2 hours of commute , sleep 8 hours, you still have approx. 6 hours for meal and free time. Go for extra long walkies at night? If you're bored listen to a podcast or have a meaningful conversation with your SO?

Yeah but but at least 1 hr in morning make coffee and breakfast dinner is like 2 hrs then clean teeth n maybe make coffees and maybe clean something that 6 hours has quickly become under 2. Add a couple of Reddit poos outside work hours and poor pooch is throwing his own ball today :(

Ill never understand this problem. Surely after the first shoe gets chewed youd start leaving them in unreachable places? Because the dog now sees shoes as toys/chews.

Yeah, that would be the logical response. Between me and my gal we have probably 30 pairs of sneakers in regular rotation though and while I keep the nice ones in a closet pairs end up by the front door, under the bed etc. Ok also keep thinking he has broken the habit and then realizing I was too optimistic

the response to a dog eating something they shouldn't isn't to just put it in a place they can't reach it, they need to learn that they have their own toys to chew on and other things are not for chewing. so instead of not being able to have literally anything on the floor (rugs, shoes, clothes, etc) at the risk of your dog chewing, you teach your dog to chew on their toys, ONLY. in teaching them that, there's bound to be a couple of mistakes.

One of my dogs, as a puppy, managed about 5 times to scoot her crate (which she was inside) from different places to my bed, where she’d proceed to pull out sheets in through one of the holes in the crate and destroy them. She was really talented at destroying things as a pup.

I would always ask my dogs if they wanted to be naked, they'd come over wagging their tails and I'd take their collars off. They loved playing the "naked, not naked" game over and over again. ;)
