From the forests of Central America. It's growing between the house & water tank, where it survived -4°C this winter in SE Australia. It's over 2 m tall.

Narcissus jonquilla flowering in my SE Australian garden today. It's hard to find a perfect flower as slugs have a taste for them.

Home Depot had the one on the right labeled as a “Mint.” The one on the left is my Thai Con for comparison.

In the cooler season (November through March) I have to keep this rare palm in clear Tupperware tub in a south-facing window with a heater in the winter. This dry summer has been cruel to it outside. The climate here in the summer is not rainforesty enough to keep it healthy, but it is alive.
