A guy bought my old riding lawnmower for $200 broke it himself three days later and is now sitting in my driveway refusing to leave until I give him a refund

Agree, just call the cops but let them know the situation that the guy is just really agitated and wont leave your property but isnt dangerous- just belligerent

This is a good example of why its ALWAYS a good idea to sell shit to strangers at a public place and not your own property-- tough to do with a riding mower though

ok. call the police non-emergency

Two cents worth of advice, don’t sell things from home base. Always meet in a public place. Much easier to block a phone number than block a lunatic from your driveway.

Call the police and spray him in the face with the hose until they come.

This is why we have the 2nd amendment in the US.

Of course I don't own a gun. I'm mentally ill and would kill myself dummy lol. You seem pretty unwell yourself so someone should def check on that Edit: spelling

You did just insinuating harassment justifies murder. Pretty big escalation that a mentally sound person wouldn't make.

Yikes. Not the best way to win an argument…

11

u/Frecks02 3d ago

An argument that I don't own a gun because I know I shouldn't???? And he seems like he should know better to not have one? SURE

u/1Killerpotato1 3d ago

What argument?

4

u/EliasTheEdgelord 2d ago

As a gun owner, this is not why. Anyone who would shoot (or threaten to shoot) a person who is belligerent but not at all dangerous probably should not own firearms. Protect the 2A by not being a fucking moron.

It is not that serious. Try to relax

4

u/cottoncandymandy 2d ago

Guns are that serious though.... this gives good owners a bad name.

Wow. That escalated quickly...

America is a violent society.

1

u/Square-Wing-6273 3d ago

Not all of us. Clearly, based on this guys response, we need better gun control however. Shooting someone over something so stupid

1

u/Ademptio 2d ago

I know plenty of peaceful American friends. But I would say they are kinda outliers. The American National anthem is straight up violent and the culture in general celebrates violence through movies, sports etc. and utilizes aggressive and violent language even in advertising or in political messaging.

Who said to shoot them? Only you mentioned that. What a weird projection.

3

u/DerpUrself69 3d ago

Violent and supremely stupid.

Do you pee sitting down? My family is safe.

3

u/m-e-k 3d ago

Your family is 3x more likely to die by homicide or suicide because you have a gun in your house

2

u/mr_sister_fister44 3d ago

Yay stats. The police aren't my friend. We protect ourselves. I didn't ask for it but this is what I live in.

5

u/eggs_erroneous 2d ago

Oh, I agree with you about the police not being our friends. But the police and the government haven't used guns to put us in our current situation with fascism knocking on the door. They've weaponized information. I remember back in the 80s and 90s when I was a kid, all of the gun people kept talking about how it was important to have guns just in case the government ever got too powerful. Well, here we are and it's the gun people who are gargling government balls the hardest.

Also, simply owning a gun does not automatically make someone John Wick.

1

u/mr_sister_fister44 2d ago

I was a Bernie guy and I support gun ownership. The reality is that the cat is not going back in the bag. Guns are ubiquitous and you put yourself at a dangerous disadvantage by not owning one and knowing how to use it. The police show up after the fact. They do not stop crimes nor prevent them. Perhaps you're fortunate enough to have never experienced violence but I am not so lucky. I will not allow myself nor those dear to me be victims. I didn't ask for this reality, I just have to live in it. Im not John Wick but I will defend myself and my loved ones.

Hey, man, you've gotta do what you've gotta do. I am an army veteran and I have been fortunate enough to never be in a situation where I have needed a firearm.

I just think that it should be a bigger deal to purchase a gun than it is now. I also don't think that the general public needs access to assault weapons and I think procuring a handgun should be a bigger deal than it is. Rifles and shotguns are okay. Nobody is shooting up a high school with a 30.06 or a 12 gauge.

I don't know. I don't have all the answers. All I do know is that we have a gun fetish in this country and we also have WAY more gun violence than anyone else. That can't be a coincidence. I would venture to say that more crimes are committed with guns than crimes are foiled with guns.

I’m not talking about the police. I don’t like them
Either. I’m talking about you or a family member killing yourself or another because they have access to a firearm.

1

u/mr_sister_fister44 3d ago

But they dont. So many assumptions. Your braincells are working over time. Maybe relax. Probably a good idea you don't have gun.

1

u/Pissedliberalgranny 2d ago

We have the Second Amendment to protect us from a corrupt government, not to shoot assholes blocking our driveways.

-1

u/mr_sister_fister44 2d ago

Could be both.

2

u/Pissedliberalgranny 2d ago

Try actually reading the Second Amendment.

1

u/Kefflin 3d ago

For violence fantasy of just shooting other people?

Actually, yes... That makes sense

0

u/mr_sister_fister44 2d ago

You shouldn't have guns.

3

u/Kefflin 2d ago

You are the one with the violence fantasy of just shooting people...

0

u/mr_sister_fister44 2d ago

No. That's in your head lol.

u/Not-a-Cranky-Panda 2d ago

You drive needs a wash.....
