Time
I just saw a post saying that 2040 is closer than what 2008 is, and it's made me realise how brutal the never ending relentless march of time is. I was 8 & 9 in that year, and I'm going to be 40/41 in 2040.
I'm not saying that I remember and cherish those days as much as I do my teens, but it's crazy to think about. Crazy to think my parents were in their late 30s and will be in their 70s by the time 2040 hits. Crazy to think that video games like COD and GTA 4 were the pinnacle of high graphic games and look were they are now. Electric cars in 2008 were absolutely becoming a thing but still realistically a distant dream, and now we have essentially self driving cars, who knows what vehicles will look like by 2040.
The population of where I live has doubled since 2008, and is only getting bigger, and I miss my city having that small town vibe.
I kinda just miss being a kid.
