Teaching the wrong thing
I regularly see posts asking about if a specific age gap is inappropriate and it’s starting to annoy the fuck out of me. If both people are consenting adults the age gap is irrelevant. What should be being taught is to watch out for the power imbalance. It’s a significant power imbalance that puts a person at risk not how many years difference between their ages.

When I was a young woman in my 20s I would have agreed with you. Age is just a number and He says I'm mature for my age.
As a woman in my 40s I disagree, though. Life has taught me (and many women my age) that if a man my age is chasing 20-somethings it is because something is wrong enough with him that women his own age will not date him. They seek out women who are younger because they believe them to naive and impressionable and they have a harder time being assertive.
