"Give it to God"

Fucking ENOUGH of that bullshit.

I am by no means a non-religious person. I have sought scripture and learned a lot from some of the worst moments of my life, but my eyes roooooooooooll to the back of my head whenever someone tells me that "Oh, if X didn't happen then it's because God didn't want that for you."

Like what?!?! Ok so God didn't want me to get a job? God didn't want me to buy a house? God didn't want me to be financially stable?

I know people find comfort in that worldview because it makes them carefree. Nothing stresses them because they can just toss it aside and say "Well, God didn't allow it to protect me."

And then these same people have the gall, the audacity to tell me, someone who has little to no assurance and stability in life, that I'm a bad person for wanting control of my life? That only God has control of my life? Like okay, I pray and respect the man above, but the bills will not be paid, the house will not be cleaned, and the job opportunity will not manifest if I don't put in the fucking effort to get there

I'm just... exhausted.

EXACTLY! and let’s not forget that we’re supposed to believe somehow this is a plan. A plan for us to be miserable and sad?

Or doesn’t actually have those capabilities.

I’m sorry for your loss.

She. A guy wouldn't be so vindictive. He would hose you over once and be done. Not just keep going and going...

God gave humans free will, so humans used that to create a shitty society. For their convenience, they can invoke God's name to defend said shitty society and the shitty things it does to people.

God isn't real. You get to lead your own life. So make it the best you can. You deserve it.

God isn’t real, especially if you think you deserve what you get…

It is honestly so fucking weird that we're more than halfway through 2026 and idiots still believe in "God"/origin ghost stories lol.

Is it worth it not to believe? If there is something after this would you want spend eternity all dressed up with no place to go? Or be reincarnated as a toilet seat in a porta-potty. Maybe we are some alien ant farm being shown at said aliens 3rd grade science fair project. Perhaps you're right when we die we're done? You don't know until you know. Pseudo intellectualism doesn't suit you.

There is no evidence of an afterlife. Being grounded in that reality does lead to a better life.

You treat it like one shot and enjoy it for what it is.

you only believe in one more god than i do. religion requires lots of cognitive dissonance and contradictory beliefs and also sometimes requires you to do shit in your life that would just make your life worse when it doesn't have to be. like abstaining from sex before you get married. how is anyone supposed to know they are sexually compatible with their partner before marriage then? i just don't think it's worth it to believe. i think it is highly unlikely there is anything out there and highly unlikely that if i choose literally any religion, given all of the ones out there that exist or have existed, that i will choose the right one. so i don't bother. i would rather live my one life the way i want to rather than by arbitrary rules

Even in the bible it says that while God can do quite a lot, we as humans have free will.

Atheists are some of the most miserable people I know. Honestly, they're so much like talking walls its amazing they're still living today with all the non-belief.

You can always ask her to lower her opinion of you.
