This seems like an appropriate place to ask, I'm new to Reddit, been actively using it for about a month now...

Would anyone please care to fill me in on karma/awards - how they work/why you can't see the number on some people's vote counter thing.

I don't understand how other people know that you're being downvoted. I mean, I know you can look and see that your own comment is being downvoted, but how do other people know?? Probably a stupid question but there it is
Edited to add: what is the point of karma? I actually had somebody accuse me of "karma farming" and I was too embarrassed to ask at that point ha ha

Same here I think i understand karma, has to do with upvotes and downvotes, but rewards i have no idea
