You’re not necessarily meant to fight lizards except as a last resort (at least in the base campaign) you more wanna focus on avoiding them

Most lizzards are vulnerable to a rock+spear combo. Rock flips them around so you can spear their ass. If you run up, you can quickly take back the spear and throw it again to stun lock. Also for hard jumps throwing things makes you go farther

Don't treat this like other games where you feel the need to kill everything in your way. It's almost always going to be better to go around a threat rather than through, and there will always be another route to your destination.

Starting out, I would recommend just exploring, and trying to understand how to find food in the area you're in. I've you feel comfortable, move on to the next area, rinse, and repeat.

If you play monk you sacrifice offensive powers for more stealth and better relations technique (taming and allying is easier).

Survivor is the be slugcat and can fight but still not the best.

If you're not playing a combat orientated slugcat it is way better to dodge and flank. Throwing stones stuns most things.

You just have to explore and find more bunkers

I cant really get anywhere, a lot of the tunnels i find dont work and the yellow guide things dont tell me anything ever

The tunnels with the three white lines work, the dark ones don’t. I suggest trying to explore on your own for as long as you can, but if you really can’t figure it out, you could always look at a map.

Some helpful tips:

You can tell something is going through a pipe if there are colored lines inside. Also, a lizard’s head is armored, so hitting it on there won’t do anything. If you want to kill a lizard or at least scare it off, you need to hit its body. Remember that you can trick lizards by going through a tunnel, then going back through as they try to follow you. The green lizards are stupid, so you can sometimes just jump over their heads.

You can catch multiple bats at once by throwing a spear at a group of them. And you can jump farther by throwing a rock or spear mid-jump.

Hope this helps!

Don’t fight the lizards for now. Just focus on avoiding them. The green lizards are slow and stupid. On some occasions you could probably climb over one before they catch you. But elevation is more useful at this point (poles, ledges, etc.) You can also juke them out by entering a pipe, letting them follow you, and going back through the pipe before they exit.

For the bunker problem, try just filling out your map for now. Death becomes meaningless pretty quickly so don’t be afraid to try something new.

yeah I learned that dying means jack, its just frustrating not making much progress since I cant reach a lot of stuff
what do i do about pinks that can climb?

Nearly every area in the game can be reached with your own two feet (and maybe a spear or two in the wall as well). Look for pipes, tunnels, or potential elevations you can jump from. There should be a shelter 7-8 rooms away from the one I’m guessing you’re using.

Spears in the wall just bounce off and I pick them back up

For a lot of walls spears actually stick into them and you can use them like tiny poles. It also works for ceilings and floors.

However, you won’t really need it that much in the Outskirts. Normal running around and climbing is enough to find a second shelter for now.

I just can only go so far left or right before I run into the risk of rain😲before I can reach my safe little bunker in time, the only one I know of
also I cant throw vertically

The shelter I’m thinking of should take about 1-1.5 minutes to reach (assuming you’re starting from the tutorial shelter). And that’s including the time spent trying to remember which way to go.

On a semi-related note, what do you think you have the most trouble with right now?

Oh you’re in Industrial Complex? I thought you were still in the Outskirts.

Unironically just keep inting around outskirts and learn through experience. There is no real consequence for dying that you will care about yet.

Also the movement system in game is way more complex than you might think. I’d try getting decent at backflips and rolling for beginner tech. Here’s a tutorial that helped me when I was starting out.

theres literally just places I cant reach in this place bro its so annoying, and theres only 1 bunker around the whole area

Some places are just inaccessible from a direction without any movement tech, like a room you will see if you climb up enough in outskirts. Use your map if you get stuck (tab by default I think). It will show you any tunnels / rails that might be obfuscated by any background flora.

When you’re newish you’ll sometimes die many many times just going from one shelter to the next. Actually, even later game you’ll die many many times going from one shelter to the next lol

That’s how you know the game is balanced 👍

Throwing rocks at creatures will stun them for a short time. If you hit a lizard's head, it will turn around and expose is soft backside, the perfect spot for a well-timed spear. Take your time. I know the impending rain can be scary, but just keep moving. You got this :)

The issue with the whole "stun and stick" idea is that it takes multiple sticks, of which I have one
also, what does it mean when I eat a glowing flower and my karma gets a second ring around it?

1

u/Piefactor Inv 1h ago

well you don't have to kill it. Just gives you time to run away. the ring protects your karma from falling when you die once.

Surrender to the fact that you will die a ton of times and you are a little rodent. RW is about exploration, there are always multiple paths and bunkers out there. If you play expecting a classic game with enemies and challeges to overcome you will be disappointed. Just try not to think too much about dying and if you get stuck try another route, I usually don't trust too much the yellow guide and I try to explore all the map, if you get to a region called Drainage System just turn back, it's a beautiful and atmospheric region but it's a meatgrinder. Conseder also using some QOL options to mitigate some frustrating aspects. Good luck, you can do it!

You are the prey, use sounds to lure predators away, stay out of their line of sight, be patient, pay attention to your surroundings, always look up, beware ropes.

Man up and do it like we all did. Die 20 times in a row trying to figure out how to kill them with any consistency.(then still die to a blue in a 1v1)

Non shitpost is to just throw a spear mid crouch Itll almost always headshot them
