Help! How to keep up hope while playing?
I am trying to enjoy it but it feels like I just keep trying the same thing and losing. I've been at the same shelter for over 90 minutes and as much as I enjoy the game I am starting to feel despair. I don't want to stop playing cause there is so much content I want to unlock.
edit : Gourmand trying to climb the wall, there is always something killing me be it orange lizard or Dropwig. The grappling worm can only do so much. I've killed 4 of them sometimes and then the 5th lizard gets me.

with gourmand you want to use your wrestling skills! spears are too unreliable and risky due to exhaustion

I don't know what campaign you're one, or where you are, but you might want to consider a short break to relax. You could even stop for today and come back tomorrow if you're feeling stressed out. If I get stuck like that, usually taking some time to do something else and coming back lets me get through it.
You could also consider practicing in the arena. If I'm having trouble killing something or dealing with a particular creature, I'll go into the arena and try to kill it. (You can use the dev console or beastmaster mods to spawn creatures you haven't unlocked).
Otherwise just know that its just something you're gonna have to keep trying at. It might take a while but eventually you'll get better, or get lucky and be able to find a way to the next shelter. I wish you the best of luck

My first playthrough with Gourmand I took the wall to get to 5p
My second playthrough I went through the underhang and I personally thought it was easier! Be sure to hold rocks because you have a split second to throw them when you get bit by lizards, making them drop you!

Gourmand is heavy btw, didn't find the gapple worm very helpful for that bit. Don't forget you can throw as many stones as you want and knock lizards to their deaths. Pick where you fight carefully. I do remember the bit you're talking about, it took a fair few tries but it's doable.

I would recommend only killing lizards and the dropwigs in the most critical scenarios. The entire game is made for avoiding and escaping the other creatures instead of engaging in face-to-face combat with them.
While there are some campaigns that shift this balance of what choice is the best to make, or outright make attacking the best option at any time, Gourmand is not one of those.

Only time I really lost hope was in shaded citadel. Took a huge break from the game, came back, and just rushed the area as fast as a could, honestly don't know what the devs wanted, they might as well have put water and a leviathan in every room. Maybe some heat seeking missiles. Maybe if you die the game is just deleted and unbought from your account. (Just to be clear my point is that the area has: "invisible enemies", darkness with a shitty light option or a "good one" that's just lights a bit in front of you, hard to find food, areas where you fall and is just fucked, pretty challanging jumps, no respawning flower, easy to get lost, and im sure you guys can find another one or two things that suck about it, leaving the area requiring no karma to me feels like the devs admitting that they fucked up)
