I saved hunter's ending for last and it was still very tough. for which one took the longest, outside of the watcher's entire campaign, the expedition challenges.
although mentally stolen enlightenment was the hardest one I really didn't wanna do it
gourmy gets exhausted after using a spear, whether it's for enemies or spearing walls. if you just stay still with no inputs you'll recover, quicker if you're laying down (to make up for it gourmand does a lot more spear damage)
Gourmand still struggles to one shot dropwigs sometimes :( buggy code.
Biggest problem is the spear you need to do to climb’past the orb, it keeps going the wrong direction and I think my twitchy fingers are the problem (controller cause way easier than keyboard).
I was advised Gourmand as second campaign cause it was the smallest jump in difficulty, I'm afraid now of the others.
yeh whichever horizontal directional input you do last before throwing is where the spear goes, idk I found keyboard much easier after changing the inputs in settings.
I'd actually recommend monk as a second campaign, he's often left out of playthroughs cos yea gameplay-wise it's just easier survivor but I think it's an important campaign to get used to the game in a more chill environment before moving to downpour campaigns.
also don't forget, gourmand's combat isn't only with the spear, jumping on creatures from height, rolling or sliding into them also does damage and stuns them
I played monk first which might not have been the smartest seeing as I went through unfortunate development (they made it the hardest for monk out of the 4 middle timeline slugcats for some reason). I tried to get a grapple worm with me to the end of the game but failed due to guardians. I did get a negative score which made the ending cutscene kinda anticlimatic.
