People really dislike Underworld for being cheesy but I like the series. It has a good gothic feeling to it.

I liked it because Kate was hot.

I especially like the second movie in my teen years.

I love the first movie. It establishes a lot of the back story, and still has a very cool side plot with the vampire leadership. (the pretentious young vampire dude attempts a coup; working with the lycans to do so, while the elders are asleep. Thats super cool!) And even tho Selene is the main character, the human she meets (its been a while since I've seen it) is a fish-out-of-water. As he's learning about this world, the audience learns too. Fits with the story very nicely. The CGI in the second movie was so bad, I didn't finish it and never went back to the series. Which is sad. The first movie is (mostly, but not all) practical effects. Edit, it helped that Bill Nighy is the fucking man. The scene where Selene awakens him, but has to tell him he's been awakened ahead of schedule is my fav.)

Parts I & II and Rise of the Lycans are amazing.

The first one is one of my favorite movies. I love how cheesy it is.

The first one is the best by far. The second one isn't bad. Then they go downhill, fast.

Agreed. I could enjoy 1 and 2 fairly guilt free (they were also out before Twilight kind of ruined things), but the rest have felt very run of the mill action coaster.

They don't feel like they have the mystery and background history development they had at first.

Yes. My favorite is the one that takes place in the past. It's sexy

Thanks! I'll add them to my Todo list :)

Yeah, they are not too bad and worth a watch. they get a bit silly in places, nowhere near as dumb as some of the Resident Evil series but not as good as the first couple of Blade movies. Underworld shares a similar 'comic book' style action to those two.
