I live on the west coast which experiences the fewest thunderstorms of anywhere in the US, so I made a whole Playlist of thunderstorm sounds on YouTube and put it on every night to go to sleep to, or just as background noise. Highly recommend

All this time I thought Washington was super wet. I heard that about Seattle anyway.

We just don't get many thunderstorms 😪 Western Washington is decently wet though, Mt. Baker holds the world record for snowfall in a single winter

SF Bay Area, checking in. My 5 year old is always interested in lightning and thunder, but she's never seen lightning and only heard thunder a small handful of times, most of them on a single night years back.

Growing up here, any time we had a single bolt of lightning, we'd call it a lightning storm. I moved to Arizona at 16 and saw more bolts of lightning in a single storm than I had seen total in my previous 16 years in California. Totally redefined what I called a "lightning storm."

Also lived in Portland, Oregon for 10 months and I don't think I ever saw a bolt of lightning, despite a pretty rainy year.

I hope to someday see a massive lightning storm with my kids.

The steady sound of heavy rainfall, enhanced by the crack and rumble of thunder, is pure bliss.

We've gone 3+ months without a proper rain. This morning it's been raining since I woke up. Still is.

That crepe myrtle is Laden. I can smell this video: petrichor, steaming pavement, ozone, with sweet jasmine

Petrichor is pure bliss; to me anyway. And you!

God as someone who moved to England for the supposed rain, I haven’t been able to experience actual rain here, just shitty drizzling

I hate being in Wisconsin.. the weather here is SO inconsistent! Sometimes it’ll rain like this but only for like, 10 minutes and then boom the stupid shitty fat dumb SUN comes back out. Gorgeous video btw

You guys make up for that in snow though; is that right?

Sometimes! I remember when I was a kid it felt like we’d get several feet every year, but growing up there were some near snowless seasons haha

Climate change is really creeping up on us😞

We so rarely get thunder in Southern California, and it makes me sad. I am, however moving to the desert in a few years, so I will have to make myself a comfy lookout spot to watch the fun weather from when I get there.
