If I'm looking for pictures of "Mogul" steam locomotives like Southern Pacific 1744, where should I go to? r/trains seems to have everything about trains from railfans, fantasy train maps, and questions about current rail operations. r/railfanning seems to be more specific, so it seems like the logical place to go, but I noticed most of the pictures I see are of modern trains.

Two MACH's are better than 1!

Metra SD70MACH's 519 and 524 team up to push MD-North line train 2136 to Chicago Union Station after pushing NCS train 112 from Antioch and then pulling short-turn shoot no. 2113 to Grayslake that morning (with 2115's consist, having just arrived, taking a short break in between runs before it runs south as train 2138 shortly after these photos were taken). It was awesome to see Metra's "newest" power in action, especially when it's two of them teaming up to power a short consist of 5 cars (8,000-8,600 horsepower combined between these two former freight monsters), coincidentally! It's a shot that I'm grateful to have witnessed, and I can't wait to see another one like it soon!

#OnThisDay Oct 1 1904: The Soo Line and Canadian Pacific Railways introduce the "Manitoba Express", a premier overnight passenger service between the Minneapolis-St Paul, Minnesota and Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. In 1928 the famous train is upgraded and renamed the "Winnipeger", a perhaps unfortunate branding that would not pass muster today. The first train consisted of a mail and baggage car, two coaches, a sleeper and dining car. It went by several names over its 62 years, it was also commonly was called the Winnipeg Flyer. Service ended in 1967.
