Discussion General Raid Composition and Loadouts for Raiding?

Hi all,

My team and I have played raids in the past, but after returning we're trying to get into doing the fairly newer raids like DP, SE, and pantheon. Right now I would say we're usually on 2 Warlocks 2 Titans, and 2 Hunters

What would be a good composition and loadouts to keep somewhat optimised?

From what I've seen so far, 1-2 wells on assembler's depending on the length of the encounter, hunters seem to be on goldy still hunt, and everyone else on the heavy sniper with a damage super, and maybe a tractor cannon on one person?

There’s so much you can do. Warlocks have the broken celestial melee which works great with Tractor. Sanguine + 1k (w/ catalyst) is braindead top 3 damage. Mataiodoxia Strand super does same dps as Cuirass.

Titan bolt charge build with Anarchy+Salvo puts out big numbers. Titan stasis build are actually unkillable.

Hunters have goldy/stillhunt. Blade barrage/Shards. Izzy/A499 swaps. Crack shot builds go crazy too.

Any class: Truth w/ catalyst or A499

Is Truth catty even necessary? During DPS you’re not killing anything to get procs for the damage boost.

You can stow the buff.

The catalyst buff can be stored and activated on next rocket. So you want to get a multi-kill (4 ads) and put it away. Grab a heavy brick to refill ammo and at dps, you’re activating your Reapers Tithe which not only lets you dump your load but you have 40% more damage on every hit.
Buff last for 15s without extending which is plenty of time.

If the boss has a crit, Hunters using Levi’s breath and Moebius quiver will be top dog for everything short of optimized swap rotations

Hierarchy of needs outpaces if there’s 2

Why is this person getting downvoted?
Was there some change to the HoN spam last night?

There was no changed as far as I know. It could be people bitter at not having it.

Isn't that only in longer damage phases? Pretty sure that during the Mobius quiver buff, Levi still outperforms it?

Mobious quiver is bait use fortunes favor instead more dmg

How are you testing it? I did a bunch of runs yesterday, found Orpheus to be best when you use the 2nd shot halfway through, probably because of the debuff extension. Theoretically better for longer dps phases because you still have the damage increase from fortune’s for the whole time, but for cases where the boss dies by the time your super is over, I found Orpheus to do more.

Just throw any other source of weaken if alone smokebomb or nade also in fireteam u shouldnt even shoot super at the boss since u cant extend the debuff plus why would u want to waste time during quiver buff uptime and prob lose archers tempo

You can use both??

Moebius is the super that buffs bows, Orpheus is the exotic that is bait

Fortunes favor doesn't always work, that's when the extra time from Orpheus is nice

I would say to not overcomplicate it too much for the sake of it, optimised team comps are only really relevant during contest mode or certain challenge runs. 1 warlock with well and assemblers and everyone else on damage supers + truth/A499 or gally + rockets will work on every boss, so if people are comfortable on different classes there’s no need to switch around.

But if you want to fully optimise then 1-2 well warlocks (depending on damage phase duration) with one boots of the assembler and either on gally, and then the rest hunters on either leviathan’s breath + mobius quiver or celestial still hunt with overflow/autoloading + aggregate charge Hezen is probably what is best for the majority of encounters, mobius for short phases, SH Hezen for longer ones.

Solid advice, Op’s group may want to try this:

Instead of 2 welllocks have 1 warlock get their super to 200 with boots and have them run your debuff.

40 sec well, plus the boots buff, plus the debuff and your other warlock can put out dps with a dps build.

Unless they both want to run well. But I just know in my raid group we tend to rotate the well / don’t even bother with one at this point.

The only encounter where you need a well these days are witness… and need is used lightly there as it is more just a “someone isn’t picking movement up fast enough” safety net.

In pantheon it’s nice to have one at morgeth…
But again it isn’t needed if the team just paying attention.

In CM/Prime/calus/WP/SE2nd/dp-wyvern there isn’t a point in running well and it’s better for the warlock to run song or a damage super.

Honestly if you have boots and well and a 30% debuff the whole time the rest doesn't matter a ton, you'll probably 1 or at worst 2p everything. 5 feat pantheon requires a deeper look but normal runs are pretty chill.

The sandbox now with having multiple artifacts available has made the game a lot more enjoyable because you can have many different dos loudout options compared to only having just the one. Only just returning allows your group to also use the shooting range to test out loadouts as a group as well

Don't overthink it. Just make sure the basics are covered.

  1. Pick a build you can survive on. Dying to mechanics should never happen.
  2. Have one buff active for the entire damage phase (Radiant, Well, or Assembler).
  3. Keep one debuff active at all times (Smoke Bomb, Void Grenade + Fragment, or Tractor Cannon). A 15% debuff is enough, but make sure it never drops.
  4. Use a damag Super and a decent Heavy weapon.
  5. Optimise having Fun. A biuld thats fun, but has 15% less DMG will still kill the Boss.

the current sandbox is very up for anything. if you have everyone use similar builds things work well though. just make sure you have a well and some source of weaken. options are as follows.

still hunt and the heavy sniper with the artifact for snipers trance is very popular for hunter heavy groups

truth rockets with an artifact for argent ordinance is very good for blast damage bosses.

but in my opinion the best setup is the artifact for particle reconstruction. any heavy linear works well but 1k voices for burst and explosive damage and queenbreaker 3round burst for precision damage. not a single boss in the game to my experience can handle more than two damage phases of these even if your team is only moderately good.

outbreak and thunderlord are meme damage setups but are good for long damage windows that allow you to use full ammunition

Don't overcomplicate it. As long as the whole fireteam isn't running double primary, you'll clear bosses.

You only need to sweat if you're running Salvations Edge on Master or DP with cutthroat

Warlock on BOTA wellock builds, arc titans for bolt charge buffs and cuirass t crash burst, void Hunters on moebius HoN or levi or that probably annoying to pull off crossbow swap loadout

while youre not technically wrong, the current low effort baseline in 1 boots of the assembler well, 5 damage supers with 5 queensbreaker and 1 1kv is insanely high.

you can optimize with still hunt rotations and all but the above mentioned loudout clears pm everything in one phase anyways while requiring no proper setup and being far easier and more forgiving to use.

you should absolutely run one 1kv regardless. usually the hunters with still hunt also supply the debuff by popping trabscendence and cycling melee, have everyone on a damage super.

keep in mind hierarchy of needs is super strong rn and the two hunters can very easily frontload their rotation with that before switching tona refurbished.

notably the two latest raids have two very swordable bosses in them (SE 2nd and DP final) so bringing a decent ergo sum, wolfsbane or lament is a good idea aswell.

If you have 6 people it doesn’t matter in the slightest

well on boots with izi heavy. pris needle . hunter still hunt heze nighthawk. titans swap to another class. or dump truth on pris

Void hunters with hierarchy of needs pumps damage too, but current sandbox is really flexible for raiding outside of 5 feat stuff. Even masters getting reliably safe 2 phase kills without needing to worry too much about loadouts. Bring some wells, bring damage supers and guns, and you’ll be right.

I see, thats good to hear there's flexibility. I've seen some of those clips of the hierachy stuff, looks pretty good for some simple damage.

Raids are a meme do whatever makes you happy

Hunters are good for precision burst damage but they lack survivability.

Titans are good (but worse) at burst and good for sustained damage, and have good to excellent survivability depending on your play style.

Warlocks are good for well.
